We've launched a Covid-19 census resource and are playing PSAs in Vietnamese while sharing community-sourced information in multiple languages, including an Anti-AAPI racism reporting document to help stand against hatred and xenophobia during this time. We also started an emergency relief fund for folks who don't qualify for aid as they are awaiting citizenship status, undocumented, or in programmatic limbo.
Our current programmatic work has shifted to digital format, from comprehensive civic engagement (census, voting, organizing workshops), advocacy around climate and reproductive education, to capacity-building for the coming summer and fall while being mindful of the mental and physical health of our staff to ensure organization sustainability. Throughout the month of May, VAYLA hosted live, virtual web talks to celebrate Asian Pacific Islander American (APIA) Heritage Month. This work continues with your support.
