Continuing to “REACH!”

Dear family at Cross Lutheran
Praying and hoping for normalcy!  That is the only way I can describe how I believe most of us feel.  Throughout our church’s response to COVID-19, the congregation of Cross Lutheran has been blessed with faith, courage and wisdom, giving consideration to the health of our friends and neighbors.  During this time of crisis our congregation has been incredibly diligent to stay connected with one another and our staff and leadership has worked to provide ongoing ministries and worship.  We have proven that our faith, although similar to the virus by spreading from person to person, is stronger and more resilient than then the fear of the virus. I am so thankful for the way you have been praying for each other, our leadership and our staff.  As you know we are inching closer to having the State “re-open”.  You may have heard this may happen in multiple phases.  Like you, I am eager for the day when our congregation can gather and worship together again and ever more eager when we can exchange a simple gesture of love and respect by shaking hands.  I anticipate that we may be able to hold services as early as June 1st, however, this date seems to be moving target and changes by the moment.  Where does that leave us as a congregation and what will the next steps be?  Currently we are planning on having a congregational meeting on Sunday, June 7th.  This meeting will be a meeting to proceed with the initial call of Pastor John to become our residing full time pastor.  I want to make sure that we can get as many members to attend as possible, we will need to achieve a quorum.  The call committee will be present to answer any questions you may have.  We want to limit this meeting to only the discussion and vote for the call of Pastor John.  We feel that under the current outlook we will be able to gather with limits of 50 people per room.  Keep in mind we can spread out in the fellowship hall and the sanctuary to ensure the safety of all.  Regardless of what the state decides we are planning on having this meeting on June 7th.  We may just have to react to the number of people that are allowed in the building at one time.  If fewer than 50 people are allowed we will have multiple meeting times.  I appreciate everyone’s patience and flexibility with this.  We will keep you posted as more information is realized.
We must remember the throughout history, God never abandoned his people.  At the Cross, when all seemed lost, Jesus died but three days later he rose from the dead!  I feel our commitment to our faith and our trust in our Lord will rise as well.
God is with us!  Do not be afraid.  We are all this together!
How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!  Psalm 133-1

Darin Schlueter, 2020 Council President.
May 12th, 2020

Dear Saints of Cross Lutheran,

To state the obvious, we are living in strange and new times (for many of us) as the Covid19 pandemic is causing much havoc and financial hardship for many. Therefore, I am pleased to announce a new ministry opportunity designated for the members of Cross Lutheran who may be experiencing economic hardship because of the pandemic.
This ministry is the Cross Lutheran Covid19 relief fund and will be available to active members of Cross Lutheran that are: furloughed, jobless, whose working hours are reduced or whose businesses have been stopped because of the pandemic. If you have any doubt about your eligibility for help; please speak directly to Pastor John.
Funds will be sent directly to utility companies, landlords, banks or automotive service and accounts. This is a limited fund, and distribution will be capped at $300 per household until the fund is depleted.
Distribution of funds will be held in the strictest confidence; although for accounting purposes there will be an application to fill out.  These applications will be secured and then destroyed once the crisis has ended or the account is depleted.
For donations to the fund please write Covid-19 relief on the line item of the check.
Please note that Friday is Pastor John’s day off, and so urgent requests should be made by Thursday.
If there are any unused funds in the account on December 1, 2020; these funds will be turned over to the church council to be used as they deem best.

God Bless,

Pastor John  and the Cross Lutheran Church Council.

Print out and fill out the COVID 19 Fund Application and return to Pastor John for consideration.
Copies can be also be picked up from the office
