Welcome to Friday!

Just the fun, ma'am. Just the fun. It's the end of the week, the beginning of the weekend, and time to unweight our minds. Find some "dad" jokes online and read them to each other. Play charades. Spray each other with the hose. Laughter is good.

My daughter painted a picture today - of a sunflower. She is going to mail it to a friend as a "pick-me-up." It has cheerful quotes along the edges. She is so excited imagining her friend opening the box! What if you sent something special to a friend of yours? A photograph, a quote that you love, a paperback book you want to share? It will probably make your day to send it, and certainly make your friend's day.

Or, enjoy the giant Kookaburra in Australia, This Word Does Not Exist.com, and Cindy's magnets below. And, for some things to look forward to, make note of our Zoom author visit on 6/9 and book group on 6/19.

If you enjoy this newsletter, please consider sending it to a friend. If you know someone who doesn't know about all the library offers, let them know what you get from the library and point them to our website: https://library.strathamnh.gov

Upcoming adult digital program: Author Dan Szczesny will be doing a Zoom presentation for us on June 9 at 2 pm for his new book, You and Me: Reflections on Being your Dad

Dan is an entertaining speaker and writer (you may know him from his book and documentary The White Mountain). Watch this with your dad for Father's Day - he'll love it (and so will you)!

To get the link to watch the author presentation, please sign up on our events calendarr: https://strathamnh.assabetinteractive.com/calendar/an-evening-with-dan-szczesny/
Cindy Also Collects Magnets! (like all the cool kids do)
"We are not very big shoppers when we go on vacation, but we always get a magnet for a reminder of our vacations and events.  This is our basement refrigerator. 128 and counting!  Our main refrigerator, we save for the current year.  Completely bare upstairs for 2020, so far."
Library Zoom Book Group

We'll be doing our third library book group on Zoom on Friday June 19 at 10 am. We'll be reading An American Marriage by Tayari Jones. It is available on Hoopla as both ebook and audiobook.

Anyone is welcome to join!
Email library@wigginml.org for more information on how to join.
Giant kookaburra built by Australian man during lockdown:
'People adore it'
https://tinyurl.com/ya5pewcu From The Guardian*

Farvardin Daliri built the 750kg sculpture, which laughs, to bring joy to the community.

The giant bird will now join the ranks of Australia’s other famous “big things” – from the Big Merino to the Big Banana to the Big Watermelon. [Please click on these links as well - Australia is an unusual place...]

He told Guardian Australia the finished product was the result of “a lot of little inventions”. The body is made of more than 100 steel circles, interlocked, with a fibreglass beak and a custom sound system to provide the distinctive laugh.
