Help Solve the Parkinson's Puzzle.

Dear Shake It Up Supporter,

2019 was a year of growth and consolidation for the foundation with an increase in revenue and research projects. We funded seven new research projects in addition to our work with the Australian Parkinson’s Mission (APM). Since our inception in 2011 we have now co-founded 41 research projects across 12 Australian research institutes to the value of $11.5 million. You can read more about our achievements in the 2019 Annual Report.

By comparison 2020 has been a much more challenging year with donations down as a result of the bushfire crisis and now the COVID-19 pandemic is having a significant impact on the Australian economy.

The much awaited APM clinical trials, which were due to start recruitment in late March, have been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The safety and welfare of clinical trial participants and site staff is critical, and with the majority of APM clinical trial sites located within hospitals, we are following state and federal advice in delaying our trial start date.

Life as we knew it will gradually return to a new normal and we are as committed as ever to funding Parkinson’s research but we need your help.  As well as the APM clinical trials, there are some promising new drug treatments in the research pipeline that will go to a clinical trial in Australia early next year.  There is still much work to be done in our pursuit of improved treatments to slow and stop the progression of Parkinson’s which will ultimately lead us to a cure, and we are not taking our foot off the pedal! Your support can help create a future without Parkinson’s.

The end of the financial year is fast approaching, and we can assure you that 100% of all donations will be directed into cutting edge Australian Parkinson’s research as all our administration costs continue to be covered by the founding directors.

We understand that the COVID-19 pandemic has financially impacted many people, but we urge you to consider supporting us at this critical time to ensure our ability to respond to new cutting edge research opportunities as they arise.

Thank you for your continued support.

Kind Regards,

Clyde Campbell
