Hello Frontier Lodge Family,

One of the biggest challenges for the reopening of the economy is the cancelation of all the summer camps that working parents rely on as childcare each summer.  In addition, many parents send their children to Christian camps to grow in their faith.  For Christian camps the challenge has become finding other avenues to reach those campers and staff to share Jesus’ vision for this world and us.  A vision that allows us to see what the world and us can look like if we follow Him.

It was tough to see one camp after another make announcements the past couple of weeks that they will be unable to open.  This includes local day camps and sleepaway camps all over the country.  Directors held out as long as they were able, sending encouraging emails and vowing to do whatever they could to gain compliance with local health guidelines and safety.

In the end, the restrictions being placed on everyone were just too much.  Especially for many day camps, where the staff and campers go home each night and come back.  Camps realized they would be unable to meet the health and safety standards that their campers and staff came to expect and therefore had to find other ways to engage in their mission.

If you have been following Frontier Lodge on Facebook or checking our website for updates you would know that due to the pandemic we had to cancel our summer camps and rental groups a few weeks ago for the health and safety of everyone involved.  We want to thank you for your patience as we wrestled with the impact of this virus on our 2020 camp season at Frontier Lodge.  It is difficult to fully comprehend the impact on our lives and communities in such a short amount of time.

While Frontier Lodge as we have known it for 84 years will take a pause, God is still at work.  We have peace knowing that God is here with us as we journey in this season.  We are very thankful that a few donors have reached out to specifically offer to do something outside of the general day to day expenses of camp to take advantage of this summer’s situation.

So, in the next few months, instead of running our traditional camp experience we will be investing into the facility so that we may be able to come back in 2021 better than ever!  We wanted to take advantage of a summer with very few on site.  What could we do or develop with no campers or a full staff on site?  Well, we will be letting you know shortly!

However, right now we are so thankful for your prayers, encouragement, shared hope, and support.  Thank you for being part of the Frontier Lodge Family!

Rich Cameron
General Director
