A Quiet Month?
You can be forgiven for thinking that in terms of ewatch messages, May has been a very quiet month – that is unless you have opted to receive Farm Watch messages. The nine Farm Watch messages issued last month detailed a total of 19 incidences ranging from an electric fencer battery, to a tractor to a 14 hand Pony! None of these items are such that they can be tucked under an arm and walked off with, except perhaps the battery, but you wouldn’t want to go far with that, so a vehicle has been involved.
We are aware that there is a reluctance to ‘bother’ the police unless we’re certain there has been an offence, but the police want to be ‘bothered’ by us when we are aware of vehicles behaving oddly at odd times. We are also aware that vehicles behaving suspiciously are often reported on Facebook – that’s a good way of letting your friends know but doesn’t help the police solve crime. The current epidemic of out-building thefts is not just confined to farms, but the sheds and garages of domestic premises are also targeted.
So, if you see suspicious activity, at any time of day or night, please report it on 101.
