What's Happening Around the Main Street District 

New Inspirational Art Installation to be Installed in the Main Street District

City Center Partnership (CCP) announced today a new art project called HOPE for Columbia that will be installed in the Main Street District to help promote hope and positivity during the Covid-19 pandemic. Artists, Danny Harrington and Brandon McIver have been commissioned by CCP to create and install the piece at First Citizens' green space.  The installation art piece includes the HOPE letters and will display the Columbia Flag across them. Once they have the art completed, the installation of the letters is planned for some time in June.

Mast General Store Has Reopened!

Mast General Store is now open from noon until 6 pm (Monday through Sunday).  According to store manager Jeremy Becraft, he and staff members are taking precautions to keep the business clean and safe.

"We feel we've worked really hard to come up with an operation plan that is going to be safe, not only for employees but our guests that come visit the store. We've upped our game on sanitation requirements, we're wearing masks inside, and offering masks to customers who want one too," he said.

Welcome Back Ally & Elloise!

Ally & Elloise is a fondant-free bakery, so all of their custom-decorated cakes are designed and decorated with buttercream. Yummy! Currently, their Main Street hours are Wednesday through Friday from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm.
 
There is a limited Main Street Express menu on their website, so feel free to order ahead online or just drop by the shop!  They will have baby cakes, macarons, cookies, cheesecake, and cake by the slice. They can't wait to see you!

Welcome Back Odd Bird Books!

What’s better than reading a great book during these challenging times?  Odd Bird Books has reopened their shop in the Arcade.  You can still order books to pick up at curbside, and they will deliver in the evenings for customers who do not want to leave their homes. Guess What…Miss Cocky Fashion Boutique is Now Open!

Take a peek at their clean, newly redecorated store. Each Thursday evening Miss Cocky will be hosting an event with live entertainment beginning on June 4 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm.  The sales for the evening will be promoting their new fashion retail and shoes. They have new game apparel coming in weekly as well.
 
They are operating on a new normal with many guidelines in place; limited capacity, monitored social distancing, one entry, sanitation stations throughout the store, a routine cleaning schedule, and a touchless POS checkout system.
Please note that they encourage customers to wear masks while shopping and they also have gamecock masks for sale.
 
All patrons can call Miss Cocky on Main at (803) 748-4771 to schedule a personal shopping experience. Miss Cocky respects  customers rights to remain socially distant and offers a personal service to shop alone, by appointment.

Hendrix will be opening its rooftop space on Tuesday, June 2 at 4:00pm, and will operate in their outdoor space moving forward with social distancing observed. They are looking forward to safely celebrating all occasions with you!

Columbia Museum of Art is Opening on Tuesday, June 16

The CMA will open to the public on Tuesday, June 16, with free admission through June 25 courtesy of BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina. The CMA is implementing cleaning and physical distancing practices to safeguard staff and visitors. Care for visitors will include such measures as limited timed admission tickets, reduced gallery capacities, robust cleaning practices, and the requirement for all to wear face masks or cloth coverings.

To offer relief during toilet paper shortages, Hotel Trundle has decided that every Tuesday in June from 11 am – 1 pm, hotel team members will give out a case (80 rolls) of toilet paper to the first 80 people who drive up. Their staff will come out to your car and give you a roll of toilet paper along with a goodie from a local, neighboring business until supplies last. Depending on demand, each car will receive one to two rolls.

Who is City Center Partnership and the BID?
In 2001, City Center Partnership was formed to manage the downtown Business Improvement District in the 36-block area bounded by Gervais, Elmwood, Assembly and Marion streets in Columbia, SC. The organization provides public space management, economic development, place management, marketing services, and public advocacy for the Main Street District.
The Board of Directors oversee the organization’s mission — to focus on filling vacancies in commercial properties, retaining existing downtown businesses and recruiting new ones, expanding the downtown residential base, and creating a safe, clean, and friendly downtown environment.
