Portland City Council unanimously adopted a resolution on our resilience values. As we begin to map out longer-term actions to help Portland, we believe we will emerge from this crisis even stronger than we were before the pandemic hit.

Residential Infill Project
City Council will hear public testimony on amendments to the RIP proposals during a virtual meeting on June 3, at 2 pm

Following the June 3 hearing, the record for written testimony will remain open until June 11, before Council deliberates and votes on the proposed amendments.

Connect in place with Oregon Humanities

Oregon Humanities is rolling out a series of online conversations during shelter in place called “Connect in Place.” The aim is to create spaces for Oregonians to gather, connect, reflect, and talk.

The City of Portland is currently updating their stormwater management manual, and they want to know what you think! The stormwater management manual provides guidelines on different ways private and public properties across the city can best handle their stormwater.

Neighborhood House virtual event will provide in-depth look at COVID-19 response

Community members are encouraged to attend the Welcome Home Virtual Happy Hour on Tuesday, June 16 at 5:00 p.m. and learn more about what Neighborhood House has been doing.

Census 2020

The U.S. Census Bureau is currently hiring for the 2020 Census. The positions are temporary and flexible with varying pay ranges. For Census Takers in Multnomah and Clackamas counties, the pay starts at $18.00/hour.

West Portland Town Center Plan

The WPTCP is charged with creating a vision and identifying actions to transition “the Crossroads” area into a healthy, inclusive and complete community. Work will cover housing and displacement, transportation and stormwater improvements, economic development, zoning changes and urban design.

Open for Business during construction! Many businesses in Multnomah Village are open! Be sure to support these small businesses that are offering curbside pickup and/or delivery.

The Multnomah Arts Center building, including the Southwest Neighborhoods, Inc. office is closed through the summer.

Portland Parks will provide free lunch & play programs this summer

Concerts in the Park, Movies in the Park, Washington Park Summer Festival, Portland World Soccer Tournament are cancelled this summer.

The Spring Cleanup was cancelled this May due to the nasty coronavirus, but if you are in need of some positive news right about now, a couple new options for recycling were recently brought to our attention.

2020 PPS School Bond Plan in Flux

The initially proposed 8-year, $1.4 billion 2020 School Bond Measure appears to be changing radically given the current COVID-19 pandemic. It now appears likely that the bond measure PPS expects to place on the November ballot will be pared down and cover a much shorter time period

Andrea Wall, volunteer and Watershed member at her newest Pollinator Garden site at SW Bertha and SW 25th Ave in Hillsdale.  

Andy has worked to renovate a stretch of isolated PBOT Right of Way along SW 25th Ave adjacent to the Mittleman Center, removing invasives, picking up trash, planting natives.

SW Boones Ferry Bridge & Restoration Project update from
Bureau of Environmental Services:
The contractor is installing piles (metal casings) into the soil. 

Ashcreek Neighborhood Association had another great donation to our Smith School Bench project.
We will be installing four benches in total.
