Dear friends and collaborators,
We started the care package newsletter series as a response to the coronavirus pandemic, to bring comfort and respite during a time of mourning and social isolation. We are now, yet again facing violent police forces attempting to suppress a movement that defends Black life and fights toward collective liberation.
Culturework stands behind whatever it takes to bring peace, safety, and justice to Black people. This week, we use our space to share resources and explore radical community care.
Classic Culturework:
-
A conversation and spotlight on 1149 Collective, a space dedicated to food justice and community care
-
Our interview with musician Darien Carr
Resources for action:
Resources for nurturance:
-
A truly amazing resource--psychotherapist Resmaa Menakem’s free online course about how racialized trauma abides in the body and how it can be attended to
-
From EmbraceRace, webinars and articles on nurturing resilience in children of color and raise children who think critically about racial inequity
Prompts to stay creative:
-
What do the words public safety really mean to you?
-
If you could have a conversation with your ancestors, what would you ask them?
Thanks for joining us this week. If you would like to share a resource with our community, let us know at contact.culturework@gmail.com. Take good care of yourself and others.
Gratefully,
The Culturework Team
