Office Status: closed to public / by appointment

To protect our staff and board members as we gear up for Fall programs and events, we decided to keep our office closed to the public at least until the end of July. You may reach us by email at info@keepcarrollbeautiful.org or call, Wednesday to Friday, 10 am to 2 pm, at 678-321-4816.

If you need to schedule a cleanup supplies or event recycling container pickup - we will be happy to set an appointment and meet you outside!

Please do not leave any recyclables in the back of KCB office!

While we appreciate the effort to do the right thing, leaving bulbs and batteries in the back of our office is posing health and injury hazards to our staff. We are working on restarting some of the collection programs, but in the meantime, we are not accepting any items at our office.

What to do with your recyclables? See below!

Carroll County Convenience Centers

The Carroll County Board of Commissioners operates 10 convenience centers strategically located throughout the county. The convenience centers accept, free of charge to the county residents, household garbage, furniture, and recyclables like:

mixed paper | cardboard | tin | aluminum | plastics #1&2

All materials have to be sorted and placed in designated bins. For locations and accepted materials, please visit the Carroll County Convenience Center page on KeepCarrollBeautiful.org.

Hard to recycle materials
have no place in landfills

Keep Carroll Beautiful strives to be the information hub for all things recycling in Carroll County. While we may offer programs and recycling events for specific items, we no longer accept recyclables that can be easily dropped off at locations throughout the county, like:

CFL BULBS
Can be dropped off at Home Depot and Lowes stores! Learn more about CFL and other bulbs recycling.

PLASTIC BAGS
Plastic bags, even when labeled #1 and #2, do not belong in single-stream recycling bins.

Most big-box grocery stores accept plastic bags. Learn more.

PAINT
While it is ok to throw away dry paint, it is illegal to place liquid paint of any kind in the trash. Liquid paint can be dried out, or recycled, for a fee, at Southern Home and Ranch in Carrollton. Learn more.

TOOL BATTERIES
Can be dropped off at Home Depot and Lowes stores! Learn more.

Trash Trap in Action

In February 2020, Carroll County and the Chattahoochee Riverkeeper announced the installation of a litter collection system known as a trash trap on Bay Springs Creek near the City of Villa Rica. For years, tributaries of the Chattahoochee have suffered from litter pollution, swept into storm drains and tributaries by stormwater runoff.

Jordan Yu, Chattahoochee Riverkeeper's Watershed Protection Specialist, inspects the Bay Spring Trap

The trash trap uses floating booms to guide litter into a mesh container, which can be emptied after a rainstorm. The device can float up and down with the water level while letting fish and other wildlife pass safely underneath. Initial tests indicate an 80% success rate in intercepting floating litter.

Changes to City of Carrollton Debris Pickup:
September 1, 2020

From City of Carrollton:
"Beginning September 1, 2020, grass, leaves, clippings, and yard debris must be bagged in paper bags (no plastic) and left for collection.
Larger debris must be cut into four-foot lengths and placed at the curb (not in the street), away from any stormwater drain, and without blocking sidewalks."  Learn more here.

Adopt-A-Trail Program 2020/2021
Accepting applications. Orientation date:
12 pm, Thursday, July 30

The Adopt-A-Trail initiative is a great way for individuals, families, and organizations to get involved with the Carrollton GreenBelt by supplementing the maintenance efforts of the City of Carrollton Parks Department. Carrollton community is invited to take responsibility for the trail by performing simple tasks that include picking up litter, reporting repair needs, and cleaning trail signage.

To successfully adopt a trail section, volunteers are required to attend a half-an-hour orientation at the Stalling Center, Carrollton Parks and Recreation’s main office on 118 S White Street in Carrollton. More information and applications can be found on KeepCarrollBeautiful.org/litter-prevention/adopt-a-trail/.

The Great GreenBelt Cleanup 2020
has a new date:

Saturday, August 29

Please join us for a special day on the GreenBelt as Keep Carroll Beautiful celebrates the Great American Cleanup! Have questions about Adopt-A-Trail or the Great GreenBelt Cleanup? Email Martyna@KeepCarrollBeautiful.org !

2020 GreenRun
October 3, 2020

The Third Annual Keep Carroll Beautiful Green Run will be held Saturday October 3rd along the beautiful Carrollton Green Belt.

Keep Carroll Beautiful in partnership with local businesses uses this race to raise much needed funds for our community recycling events, beautification efforts, and litter prevention and clean up.
Every year we look forward to you joining us on The Greenbelt!  The race will start along the shaded Target trail head and then follow the trail down Ben Scott Boulevard by the Carrollton City Schools.  You will have another patch of shade along Buffalo Creek before the first uphill battle at the Hays Mill Trailhead.  Grab a water on the run here and continue past the waterfalls, under the bridge, and up Hays Mill Road until your turn around.  From there you run the trail back to the Target Trailhead where we began and grab some snacks and some rest!

The race starts at 8am and awards begin at 9am.

Fall Electronics Recycling
October 10, 2020

We plan on hosting the 2020 Fall E-Recycling Event in Carrollton and Villa Rica. We are looking forward to seeing everyone on October 10. Please, do not leave any recyclables outside of our office. Due to the cancellation of the Spring E-Recycling, we have very limited storage and cannot accept any new items at this time.
