Farmers Market

We are excited to share that the Farmers Market will open June 11th at 3:30 PM. The Market will open every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM and every Saturday from 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, please observe social distancing while visiting the market. This will be essential for the market to remain open.

Virtual Food Preservation workshop Series

The Food Safety & Quality team is pleased to offer a food preservation series presented online using Zoom this summer. The dates are June 23, 30, and July 7. Registration is open. Each workshop will include a) Zoom basic use and etiquette, b) a lesson on food preservation principles and c) live demonstrations of preservation techniques. Interaction with our instructors during the demos is encouraged. Participants will learn about and watch processes for water bath canning for fruit, tomato and pickled products; pressure canning for vegetables and meats; and the best methods for freezing specific fruits & vegetables. Pre- and Post tests will be administered in each workshop for program evaluation. There is no fee to participants. You may register by clicking on the links below.

Census

Be Counted, Alabama! Take the 2020 Census
online, by phone, or by mail - be counted in the 2020 Census through October 31, 2020. Every 10 years the US Census Bureau conducts a nationwide census. This census counts every person living in the United States at a particular residence. Residents have until October to complete the census. Take your census online

EFNEP Virtual Nutrition Programs

Take advantage of the wide range of programs being offered now by Zoom or FaceTime. Two programs currently being offered through Zoom or Facetime are Eating Smart, Being Active and Today’s Mom. Eating Smart, Being Active helps parents/caregivers provide healthy meals on a limited budget and increase physical activity. Today’s Mom prepares moms-to-be for a heathy delivery. Individuals will earn incentives for participating in each program. A sample of the program incentives for Eating Smart, Being Active is shown in the photo. 4-H Service Leadership Project

June 10 - June 22nd our 4-H Leadership Council is collecting food items as a service leadership project. Please see a Youth Leadership Member or drop your donation off at the Fayette County Extension Office @ 650 McConnell Loop, Fayette AL.
