Watershed Fund Capacity Grants
The MWCC Watershed Fund is now accepting proposals for Capacity Support. This funding will help MWCC Partners fill critical capacity funding gaps for their organizations and communities. A total of $28,000 is available, and up to $7,000 may be awarded to each recipient. Proposals are due by 5 pm on Friday, July 24. Projects must be completed by April 30, 2021. Farewell David Stout, Ruby Valley Conservation District
David began working with the Ruby Valley Conservation District and Ruby Watershed Council in 2015. He started as a Big Sky Watershed Corps member and was subsequently hired on as the Restoration Projects Coordinator and then Stewardship Director. His work has included a variety of watershed restoration and monitoring projects. His major accomplishments include creating the Ruby River Watershed Restoration Plan, working to innovate low-cost stream restoration techniques, establishing stream flow and temperature monitoring throughout the lower Ruby Watershed, and securing genetically pure Westslope Cutthroat Trout in the headwaters of Ramshorn Creek. He will greatly miss his friends and the sweeping landscapes of the Ruby. He plans to continue his education and (possibly) spend time traveling outside the United States.
Welcome Dominique Shore, Ruby Valley Conservation District
Dominique joined the Ruby Valley Conservation District in May and is eager to begin working on a wide range of conservation tasks to improve water quality and quantity in the Ruby Valley. Originally from Georgia, she received a B.S. in Geology from Fort Lewis College and is completing a M.S. at Utah State University studying landscape response to a growing mountain range in southern Taiwan. In 2019, she interned for the Ruby Habitat Foundation where she fell in love with the Ruby Valley and its waters and wildlife. In her free time, she enjoys anything that keeps her outside and active including mountain biking, trail running, backcountry skiing, and fly fishing.
