Sunday History Programs Planned at Fort Abercrombie State Historic Site

FORT ABERCROMBIE, N.D. – The public is invited to Sunday History Programs at 2 p.m. during June at Fort Abercrombie State Historic Site unless otherwise noted. The live programs will be streamed on Facebook. All events are free and open to the public. Weather permitting, programs will be held outdoors to allow for social distancing. Chairs and benches will be available, but visitors are allowed to bring their own seating. 

New health and safety protocols are in place for staff and visitors. The site is operating at reduced capacity, heightened cleaning protocols are in place, and some “high touch” experiences are closed at this time. Visitors are asked to follow the CDC's recommendations on social distancing and personal hygiene while visiting state historic sites.

July 5 - “Wagon Trains” presented by Fort Abercrombie Interpreter, Paul Nelson and “A Story and a Song” by Fort Abercrombie staff Mattie Richardson and Barb Myhre. 

July 12 - Paul and Kara Fladland Band Concert.

July 19 - “Abercrombie Trail Series: Challenges and Rewards of Becoming an Author” with award winning author Candace Simar. This will be a virtual program on Facebook and Google Business.

July 26 - “Weather Conditions in the Red River Valley During the Health Crisis of the 1900s and 2020” presented by KVRR Chief Meteorologist Rob Kupec. This will be a virtual program on Facebook and Google Business. 

Fort Abercrombie is a state historic site managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota. Summer hours are daily, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission is $8 adults and $3 youth.
