Though we are still unsure when shows will be back on our stage, we have had some exciting moments this past week, and are proud to share them.

Our Crowdfunding Campaign passes the R100,000 Mark, and we were on TV!
It truly looks like survival is a real possibility, as our community comes together in support of our 61 year old theatre. Thank you to all our contributors, we are almost there: We were very excited to be invited to join Morning Live on SABC 2, link to video included below

Members of our online offering: Bertie's Ghostlights were treated to a wonderful evening "In Conversation" with Pieter-Dirk Uys this past Tuesday, and we were joined one of his cats. One of our favourite take away comments by PDU from this evening was:
If you do nothing, Nothing happens,
but if you do everything you can - ANYTHING can happen
(Advice to a young actor: but a perhaps a note for us all!)
Shakespeare's Twelfth Night is being rehearsed in a way I'm sure he could never imagine: On Zoom, and Feste the Fool played by a woman. We have been fortunate to join open rehearsals and can't wait for this energised cast under the direction of Barbara Basel, to finally hit the boards.

Sanitising and Social Distancing
Since our Sundays are often theatrically quiet, we share our space with the AFM Kristenhof congregation. This past Sunday our doors were (partially) open, which is allowing us to look at sanitising procedures, and how to welcome people while keeping social distance. Even in this small way, it is wonderful to bring some life and noise into the Masque Theatre building, she was getting lonely!
