While our farm store has changed many times to adjust to the guidelines and the needs of the families we serve, our farm continues to operate at a high pace this time of year. We are busy planting, weeding, irrigating, and tending to over 18 acres of fresh produce for our summer harvests which will include: peas, beans, summer squash, zucchini, sweet corn, tomatoes, and more! We've also recently planted 3 acres of pumpkins and gourds for the fall season. And our cows continue to produce high quality milk for the Agri-Mark/Cabot Creamery Cooperative each and every day. Much like your most productive days are filled with nourishing food, our cows produce great milk when we provide excellent feed. We've had beautiful weather the last several days for making hay and harvesting grass silage. Both are essential to our cows balanced meals and we must work hard now to harvest enough food to fill our trenches with food to last through the harsh winter months as well. It's certainly a busy time of year for everyone here at Whittier Farms but we're thankful to all of you who continue to support our farm store as together, we can all keep agriculture alive and well right here in Sutton.
