Call to Action

In order to truly decrease the digital divide throughout our city, we must acknowledge systemic racism and work to make Free Geek Toronto actively anti-racist.

Our most positive impact has come from relationships with community partners. Through these collaborations, we can ensure technology gets to the people and communities who need it most. We commit to continue to work to support and listen to Black and Indigenous communities in Toronto and to regularly examine whether we are doing all we can to support anti-racism in our work.

For those able to donate, please consider supporting Black-led organizations in the city making a difference, such as TAIBU Community HealthTropicana Community Services, and Black Lives Matter Toronto.

Free Geek Toronto continues to offer limited services

While some businesses in Ontario are re-open today, Free Geek Toronto is going to continue to maintain curbside pickups and deliveries only for the time being. The main reason is 180 Sudbury St. houses many residents who are in at-risk populations for COVID-19. We’re working with our landlord to find the right solution but we’re also taking a very cautious approach to maintaining everyone’s health and safety.

  • Curbside pickups of purchases are only available on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12 PM to 4 PM. We will also be available to answer questions at this time.
  • Please only use the direct entrance at the back of 180 Sudbury St on the east side for curbside pick-ups.

Please note that due to safety concerns, Free Geek Toronto will not be accepting donations of electronics drop-offs or scheduling pick-ups yet.

Free Geek Toronto’s 2020 Annual General Meeting went virtual

We were pleased to see over 20 members and volunteers at our first virtual Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 6. Members elected board directors, approved the 2019 review engagement, and heard updates from our Executive Director and Board President. They also passed a by-law change that allows us to hold virtual AGMs, if needed, going forward.

GivingTuesdayNOW Fundraiser

Thank you for your generosity and support

We want to extend our heartfelt thank you to everyone that supported Free Geek Toronto in our first-ever fundraising appeal where we raised nearly $4,000 on GivingTuesdayNOW alone, including funds from a matching donor. Thanks to this campaign, we were able to provide more than a dozen individuals and families with low-cost refurbished computers.

We are deeply grateful to you for continuing to support us in these times, and most of all for continuing to support our mission of providing affordable technology to Canadians when it has become such a critical need for so many.  Thank you!

Since 2009, Free Geek Toronto has been promoting social and economic justice, focusing on marginalized populations in the Greater Toronto area.

Our vision is to make our city a place where e-waste is disposed of responsibly, safely and ethically, and where everyone has access to computers and the Internet.
