Friends,
These are interesting times we live in. While there is much that grieves me as I once again see racism in this harsh, bright light, I am also encouraged that there has been growing discussion and positive response from many sources. I encourage us all to listen, to stand firm against racism, and to explore the racism in us. This is also a time to ground ourselves in prayer. We need that foundation as we face these days. It is from that ground that we seek transformation in ourselves and the world.
We will continue to pray together via virtual means. The rate of infection in Knox County is comparatively low, but is still increasing. We want to return to in-person worship safely. A committee is discussing how we will do that.
Thank you for your faithfulness in these times. You have also been generous in supporting the ministries of St. James. I see that many of you have begun to use online giving. Thanks for rising to the challenge.
As so many things are changing and uncertain around us, I remind us all that we are people who believe in the resurrection. In that faith, even death is a stage of transformation. Keep the faith.

Our beautiful church gardens are faithfully maintained by the St. Francis Guild, a hearty band of folk who lovingly hoe, plant, pull weeds, and so much more. More hands are needed to join the fun. From an hour a week to as much time as you’d enjoy, the Guild welcomes you. Please contact
