St. Vincent's Weekly e-Bulletin
Dear St. Vincent's family,
While still experiencing the COVID-19 pandemic we are slowly returning to community. Community looks a bit different than it did prior to Covid 19. Whether it's returning to Mass in person, tuning in to the live-streaming Masses on Facebook or the website, reaching out by phone to a neighbor, whether it's contributing to a ministry or running an errand for a parishioner in need, St. Vincent's continues in the work we've been called to do. We worship, we act, we pray, we give (please consider online giving, see Parish Giving link below, as we need to sustain our parish community through this pandemic & beyond), and we continue to maintain fellowship to the best of our ability.
The St. Vincent's Web Ministry will continue to send out a weekly electronic bulletin. Consider this just one way for us to keep you informed. Please invite others you know who may be searching for a spiritual home and a loving, faith community, to sign up for our e-bulletin, check out our website & FB page, attend Mass in person, or view our Live Streamed Masses! Please encourage others to visit our website to sign up for our email list, or email Joan (joaniemc223@gmail.com)!
Please don't hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any questions or need help accessing any of our electronic resources:
Website - Geoff (web@saint-vincent-church.org)
Facebook - Mary Anne (wrk4peace@comcast.net)
E-Bulletin - Joan (joaniemc223@gmail.com)
Blessings,
St. Vincent's Web Ministry

JUNETEENTH - JUNE 19
Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that the Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free. Note that this was two and a half years after President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation - which had become official January 1, 1863. The Emancipation Proclamation had little impact on the Texans due to the minimal number of Union troops to enforce the new Executive Order. However, with the surrender of General Lee in April of 1865, and the arrival of General Granger’s regiment, the forces were finally strong enough to influence and overcome the resistance.
