Quails on the move!
Dear Friends and Family

As many of you know, over the past year, we have been thinking and praying about the opportunity to work for EMI (Engineering Ministries International) in Latin America. EMI work with local Christian charities in the developing world; helping them to develop their buildings in order to better serve the work they do, including schools, hospitals and churches. An important part of EMI's work is employing and training local design professionals in their offices aboard.

Having now completed the application process we are excited to announce that we have been offered a place in the Nicaragua office and are preparing to move in early 2021. Rob will work as a project manager in the office whilst Helen will be exploring opportunities locally with both EMI and other charities. Chloe and Josh will continue their schooling (which will include learning Spanish!)
For now, we wanted to update you, our friends and family, about our plans and ask that you would support us in our preparation and pray for us (if you pray!)

Things to pray for:
  • The current situation with Covid-19 means that any schedules we have are uncertain, and whilst early 2021 departure is the programme we're aiming for, we're trusting the final timings to God.
  • Online orientation course taking place this week.
  • Arrangements with letting out our apartment whilst we're away.
  • Support raising- see below!
Funds

We are working to finalise our budget for our time in Nicaragua. As with all overseas staff we won’t be receiving a salary from EMI; we have to raise the funds to provide all that we need for our time over there. That includes rent, food, vehicle costs, school fees, flights etc.

We are asking individuals, churches and other organisations to partner with us in the work that we are doing with EMI. If this is something that you would like to do, please send us an email (quails.emi@gmail.com) for more information or visit our website for details.
Why are we doing this?

Lift up your heads, O you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is he, this King of glory? The LORD Almighty-- he is the King of glory.  Psalm 24 v 10

Psalm 24 has been a recurring passage for our family for a long time including a memorable sermon in a Nicaraguan church back in 2012! And it also speaks into the moment we find ourselves in now as we recognise God as King and invite Him to lead us as we approach this exciting new opportunity. There is more about the significance Psalm 24 has for us here.
