Friends of Same and COVID - 19 update
|
|
|
Same, like the rest of East Timor has restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The Same Youth Centre is providing education on mask wearing, hand sanitation and social distancing, and have also been providing food parcels to people in isolated villages.
Thank you to Caritas Australia who are supplying soap, facemasks, brochures, etc to Same Youth Centre (CEFEBOM) for the prevention of COVID-19 in the community.
The Centre is in need of financial assistance in purchasing material for masks and hand sanitiser to distribute, these plus donations can be made via Friends of Same.
FOS is partnering with Melbourne University Health Initiative in sending medical supplies and equipment to Same Hospital, and FoS is seeking donations to help fund transport costs.

Fuan Nabilan are returning to study, as the lockdown of schools has now ended in Timor.
See above Natalia (in blue) is studying braille with Joana at Fuan Nabilan. Saturnino and Izaquel (Jaquel) are ready to go back to school and in the last photo Ediana is studying braille with Joana.

Margie Beck, Principal of Baucau Teachers College received an AM in the Queens birthday honours list for ' significant service to Australia-Timor Leste relations through teacher education roles. '
Friends of Same are sponsoring 3 students Lidia, Abrao and Ercilio from Same at Baucau Teachers College, in partnership with Corpus Christi Social Justice Group.

Scholarship Student Gabriella will be continuing teaching agriculture at University Boaventura in same for another 3 months. Her first 3 months of teaching went very well.
