Items of note for this week

Planning for the staff workshop in full swing

While we have all been in lockdown, the staff workshop planning team has been steaming ahead with plans for an awesome gathering in Tibooburra from Tuesday 25 - Thursday 27 August. By now, you should have received an invitation and have it in your calendars. With a field trip planned to iconic Cameron’s Corner on the Wednesday, this is a workshop not to be missed. One highlight will be the opportunity to play a game of golf across three different states: NSW, Queensland and South Australia – so cross all your fingers that the state borders will be open by then! For further information contact one of the planning team — Fiona, Mandy, Michelle, Matt, Peter and Danielle.

Help promote our next webinar

The Ag team have locked another webinar in which will occur in two weeks time on Monday 29 June. The webinar will focus on an introduction to planning growing seasons in Western NSW with Dick Richardson of Growing Naturally signed on to present. Staff are asked to assist in promoting this event through their local networks. There is an event listing on our website (click here) and a flyer available by clicking here

Changes to COVID-19 vehicle requirements

Upon review, vehicle restrictions have been lifted, and staff can now use a risk based approach to allow multiple people in vehicles. To allow multiple people in vehicles staff must:
  • update the Western risk assessments as required to cover multiple people in vehicles (Erlina)
  • sanitise vehicles before and after each trip, which should still be done for any pool vehicle
  • adhere to existing personal hygiene rules, wash or sanitise hands before entering the vehicle and by making sure that if anyone displays cold or flu symptoms are politely requested to go home and not travel
  • maximise air flow where possible — set air-conditioning to external airflow instead of recirculation, keep windows slightly down if possible etc.
  • keep numbers down wherever possible and sit as far apart as possible (eg with two people they would sit in the drivers seat and rear passenger seat).
Remote work policy and spot tracker reminder

Staff are asked to take some time this week to refresh on the current remote worker policy.
Staff are also reminded when it comes to using spot tracker they need to allow time for messages to be sent/received before turning it off, and they also need to make sure they hear back from their manager (i.e. thumbs up text). If staff don't receive this thumbs up within a half hour, they should give their manager a call.

Ticking off EOFY jobs
  • Ensure all admin such as time sheets, leave requests, vehicle log sheets and Expense8 is always up-to-date. As an example, the last payday for the 29/20 financial year is Thursday 25 June. To ensure casual hours, overtime and any allowances are included in this last pay, time sheets must be approved by 11 am Monday 22 June through MyHQ.
  • In March, DPIE agreed to suspend core working time and bandwidth to enable flexibility for people working remotely.  If this is something you have been doing, to ensure your current flex sheet is approved, please complete the Suspend Core Hours form prior to submitting it. The current flex period ends on 21 June.
Promote your work at the 2021 National Landcare Conference

Landcare Australia is calling for abstract submissions that showcases the Landcare approach to natural resource management or sustainable agriculture. Click here for further information — submissions close 1 July.
