From Canon Heather
Dear All,

Welcome to this week’s update as to the happenings at the Cathedral. We’ve had a busy week with preparations for the Chapter meeting held on Tuesday, AGM preparations along with collating our annual reports, and our regular services. We’ve been blessed with uplifting music from Philip and our wonderful musicians, and encouraged through our sermons and prayers. And of course, we continue with our preparations for welcoming you back to join in worship with us in person. And we have continued in prayer, with many around the world, that the divisions in our society that lead to discrimination against, in our nation’s case, our indigenous peoples, would be broken down.

Do continue in prayer for those on our prayer list - we have had some members of our congregation in hospital this week. Thankfully they are heading home today. One of the good ways we can support each other is as we remember each other before our gracious Heavenly Father, asking for his help and encouragement, as well as for the Holy Spirit’s continuing work in us to deepen our trust in his goodness.

If you have ever wondered what a video that included the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Pope, the Dean and myself might look like, you can watch it via this link: https://youtu.be/yUkGC3c1z-k

Grace and peace,

Heather.

Notices

Opening for Sunday Worship
We anticipate an announcement from the Chief Health Officer of Victoria in the coming days that will allow an easing of restrictions to have 50 people to attend services. With that in mind, we are planning to commence Sunday worship on Sunday 28th June with services at 8am, 10am (followed by the AGM at 11am), 1pm and 4pm. More information will be sent to the congregation next week.

Annual General Meeting
The 2020 Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday 28 June at 11am. In compliance with the health advice of the State of Victoria at the time of this edition’s publication, only fifty people may be in attendance in the Cathedral. To enable the full participation of all of our members, the AGM will be streamed live to our YouTube page, accessible via a private link which will be distributed closer to the time.

As usual we would like to invite Electoral Roll Members to submit their questions to the meeting in advance. This can be done in writing to welcome@stpaulscathedral.org.au. The deadline for question submissions is 25 June.
Planned Giving 2020/2021
It is that season of the year when we think about planned giving for the next 12 months. Envelopes for 2020/2021 will be available for collection as soon as services resume. Please let Dorothea know (derowse1@bigpond.com) if you will be requiring a box. I would, however, urge everyone who is currently taking envelopes to think again about setting up a direct debit on your Bank account or Credit card. You have absolute control; and it does ensure a regular flow of money to the Cathedral. Please also give prayer and thought to increasing the amount you have been giving. Once Federal financial support such as JobKeeper is phased out Cathedral finances will be very vulnerable indeed.
