TCV Weekly News: 18th June 2020

Kia ora koutou

A great jam packed newsletter this week. So great to see things popping up in my inbox and on Facebook. Thank you to the many of you that swiftly replied to my email regarding membership renewal for July 2020-June 2021. I am excited to see new members on board the network and am looking forward to when we can all meet up again in person. We are waiting for approval from the GDC to confirm if our July Network meeting can be held in the Chambers again.

I also enjoyed catching up with many of you this week in person.  It is great to see peoples enthusiasm refreshed moving into July so soon.
Its been hard for me to get back into normal routines of being out and about but my calendar is starting to fill up with events in the coming months and it is nice to see the community returning to 'normal'.

Have a great week all!

We are just about to start preparation for our "Spud in a Bucket" annual fundraiser held in December
BUT..............
we are short of about 100 buckets.

That is the number of people who did not bring their "spud in a bucket" for the weigh-in at Bunnings last year. If you have a bucket at home, or know anyone who has one, can you please bring it in to us at the office.

We need the buckets so we can sell them with a seedling spud from August onwards.

They must be 10 litre buckets - nothing bigger or smaller will do. If you have any you can donate we will be happy to take them off your hands.

Do a little happy dance as it is Day One of building the Future Home for Hospice Tairawhiti.

Stage one is excavating the site which will take two weeks.

The future Home for Hospice Tairawhiti is for the community and funded by the community. Thank you to all who have got us to this first day of breaking ground.  Especially to our largest grant donors; Trust Tairāwhiti (TT)New Zealand Community Trust (NZCT)Eastern & Central Community Trust (ECCT), Sir John Logan Campbell Residuary Trust, and Gisborne Wainui Lions Club Inc.

The new home for Hospice Tairawhiti will allow our services to be extended to help better serve the needs of the Tairawhiti community

Where possible, this multi-million dollar project is using local suppliers and contractors. It is extremely important to us that the money stays in the community that funded the project.

Unfortunately, the building fund was affected by Covid-19 and we still have $310,000 left to raise to complete the building plus the fit-out.

You can support the build by entering our Luxury Mystery Weekend raffle.  Tickets are $20 each with a 1 in 500 chance of winning a weekend for two worth $1,200. Visit https://www.hospicetairawhiti.org.nz/win to be in with a chance to win.  Alternatively you can call 06 869 0052 or visit the Hospice Shop on Peel Street.
