THE NEW YORK CITY REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT COOPERATIVE (NYCREIC)STANDS WITH THE BLACK LIVES MATTER MOVEMENT!

We acknowledge the deep history of white supremacy that, as scholar Miles Grier put it, distributes the three Ps of property, protection, and pleasure to white people first. Our co-leadership aims to transform the relationship between white supremacy, anti-Black racism, policing and land by supporting the call for community control made by the Movement for Black Lives and the call to support and promote community land trusts for Black and historically displaced communities made by 8 to Abolition

In particular, we aim to provide democratically directed funds to BIPOC-owned projects and places, including those drawn from the Black-led community land trust movement that started in the 1960s. The NYCREIC already has legal approval to raise funds for any investment in commercial real property as long as it is consistent with the purpose of combating community deterioration and advancing long-term stability, diversity, vibrancy and cohesion in New York City neighborhoods most affected by disinvestment and displacement. Join us.
