Covered Wagon Rides Offered at Chateau de Morès State Historic Site

MEDORA, N.D. - The Chateau de Morès State Historic Site, in partnership with Chris and Kris Kubal, is offering covered wagon rides through the pristine bottom-lands of the site. Rides are offered upon request Saturdays and Sundays,10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. MT. weather permitting, and will continue most weekends through Labor Day. Visitors are encouraged to call 701.623.4355 prior to arriving to check availability.
 
The blonde Belgian horses pulling the wagon are the North Dakota Draft Horse Association 2019 State Champions. The trail is approximately 2 miles long and will follow part of the original road from the town of Medora to the Chateau. Guests should allow 30-45 minutes for the ride. Tickets may be purchased at the Chateau de Morès Interpretive Center through 4:30 p.m. (MT). Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children 6-15. Children 5 and under ride free. Group discounts are available.

Inside the Interpretive Center visitors will see the North Dakota Draft Horse Association 2019 State Champion trophy on loan from Chris and Kris Kuba and can learn about the friendship between Theodore Roosevelt and Seth Bullock, frontiersman and prominent resident of Deadwood, South Dakota, from a traveling exhibit on loan from the City of Deadwood.

Chateau de Morès is a state historic site managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota. The Chateau de Morès site and Interpretive Center near Medora are open daily, 8:45 a.m.-noon and 1 p.m.-5:30 p.m. MT. Both are closed noon-1 p.m. for cleaning.
