This month you'll begin to get a taste of live arts events again. Organizers, leaders, and staff continue to keep health and safety as a top priority, but need you to remember your masks and social distancing! If you're not ready yet, there are plenty of ways to get back into the Monadnock region's art scene virtually. So, enjoy at whatever level you're ready for!

Farmers' Markets 

Produce, Plants, and Arts!


Varied


Farmers's markets are happening throughout this beautiful region! While they all feature farm fresh produce, many include arts in various forms - local baking, jams, crafts, and even music for your entertainment.  Here are the largest ones in the region. Follow your favorite on Facebook to see weekly offerings including featured performers!

Peterborough:  Peterborough Farmers' Market held Wednesdays 3 - 6pm
Fresh Chicks Local Outdoor Market
held Mondays 11am -3pm

Keene:   Keene Farmers' Market
held Saturdays 9am - 1pm and Tuesdays 3 - 6pm
    
Brattleboro:   Brattleboro Farmers' Market
held Saturdays 10am - 2pm, 10 - 11am for high risk only

Got Talent? Submit a video. Not sure? Enjoy watching what others have submitted and get inspired!

The Keene Sentinel, together with Reality Check of Jaffrey, seek talented performers from the Monadnock Region and southeastern Vermont to submit videos of their singing, dancing, acting, comedy, magic or other talents they think worthy of recognition. Contestants must be 13 or older to enter and videos cannot exceed four minutes.

Submissions will be accepted through June 26.  The public will have a chance to vote on the entries and then a panel of judges will determine one winner from the top five of public voting.The judges will announce their choice during a Facebook Live event July 27. Check it out!

The River Gallery School (RGS) in Brattleboro has online summer offerings for you! Find art combined with meditation or journaling, watercolor classes, and more. Class fees cover a kit of needed items available for pickup or sent to your home.  Follow RGS on Facebook for latebreaking class opportunities!

In this 26th Anniversary year of Project Shakespeare plenty is still happening even if indoor theatre classes and performances are still not safe! With some Yankee ingenuity, opportunities still abound for youth age seven to 18 to discover their inner thespian. For adults, there will be performances to see.  Some later summer performances are carefully scheduled for outside venues! Summer Concerts

 

Monadnock Music has modified its 2020 Summer Season to be largely virtual in six high-quality recorded streaming “Virtual Village Concerts”.

It isn't all online!  Starting in July, you can once again Listen & Lunch outside in Peterborough's Depot Park. 

Check out the "Music Matters" Campaign while you wait for the lunchtime and Virtual Village concerts to begin. Join Monadnock Music in an online conversation about how music has played a part in social distancing for you. Prizes are offered!  Also explore the "Music in the Time of Quarantine" series of live streaming concerts through Monadnock Music at home.

The New Hampshire Antique Co-op announces an exhibit, online exhibition and sale features more than 50 works by artists from the 19th century as well as contemporary and local artists. Summer Palettes: Impressionist & Modernist Works from the 19th Century to Present  explores the essence - the colors, the light, the energy - of summertime through landscape, seascape and still life paintings that evoke the spirit of the season.

Re-open date June 18!

 

After months of being shuttered, the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center reopens on June 18!  Eight exhibits that were ready to go in March just as BMAC closed, have been held over until October. Enjoy a visit to take in the diverse offerings of these exhibits which include blown glass, photography, and portraiture examined with thoughtful, stimuating approaches by the artists. Several of the artists are local - discover the talent that lurks in our region!
