Accommodation Providers held a sector group meeting this week to network and share ideas. The providers at the meeting had positive discussion around a number of topics.
One strong message stood out. The desire to have more open communication channels with Hospitality Operators and Activity Providers, especially at this time.
Points made at the meeting:
- We have customers all week long – not just weekends.
- Currently struggling with low choices for dining –all closed on the same days eg Tuesday evenings
- What activities are open at the moment?
- This is creating a negative vibe for our visitors.
- Communication strategy required between hospitality, activity providers and accommodation sector.
- Will a facebook group help with communication between the sectors – deals, rooms available, special closures, last minute updates etc?
- Sector relationships and communications such as Duty Motel
- ‘Explore our Backyard’ – a locally driven platform for all-inclusive nationwide support of local regions. Book direct with operator. First 6 months free with 10% off Siteminder services. More information to come.
- Local commercial laundry service establishing. More information to come.
The accommodation providers wish to connect all three sectors in initial discussion to create stronger communication lines and relationships.
The Accommodation sector is currently finding that they have good guest numbers. They are struggling to recommend dining or activity options as knowledge of operational days and hours are not fully known.
With this in mind, we are asking for cafes, restaurants and activity providers to supply with us with the following information before the meeting, with midday Monday as deadline please! It will only take a few minutes!
