Globe Derby Park - Saturday 13th June 2020
Overview of meeting:

Race 1: SA BOTRA MEMBERS PACE

SIR ROMAN (3) has been hard to fault recently. Going for three wins in a row tonight and was a trial winner last Sunday at Globe Derby. He is ideally drawn tonight and is a strong winning chance.
SHESASHARK (2) is working her way back up to a win. She was only beaten by 1.5 meters last week behind the in form AH LA VITESSE. A repeat of her recent will put her right in the mix here tonight.
SUTTER MAN (6) has won three of his last four. He will find the draw and the field he is racing against tonight a little tough but his recent form suggests he will be around the mark.
THE OCTAGON (1) and ONE NIGHT AT THEMILE (9) are also chances.

Race 2: TRUMP BLOODSTOCK PACE

A very talented field has been assembled for this race.
CARTER MAYSON (8) brings the most consistent form into the race. He was only beaten by a neck behind AH LA VITESSE last week and he appears to be improving with each run he has here in South Australia. He should be able to lob into a nice position during the run from the second row. He looks to be one of the main winning chances.
CHANGEUP (4) is a smart beginner and she does look to be the likely leader here. Her last 3 starts have been strong and she will be around the mark again tonight.
POLAR LIGHTS (6) has been hard to fault over her last 4 runs. She ran third behind ABSOLUTION in her most recent start. She does have the ability to feature tonight despite the tricky draw.
IN SHOOBEES SHOES (1), IMA WORKINCLASSMAN (3) and STALL ONE (2) are also chances.

Race 3: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY PACE

CELESTIAL DAYBREAK (5) has the most gate speed and he should be able to find the front early. His form reads well and he should be around the mark again tonight.
BIEN HOA (4) continues to knock on the door for a win. He was only beaten by 1.1 meters behind SCRAWL last week. A repeat of his recent efforts will see him feature here.
PRINCE OF WHITBY (2) steps down in class tonight. He is an each way chance and must be respected from the draw.
WHITE STAR VILLAGE (3) and HILLDALE SUNRISE (6) are also chances.

Race 4: TAB PACE

DOUBLEDIPOFHEAVEN (7) has his fourth run back from a spell tonight. He has been racing well against tougher fields. He will be fitter after those first three runs back and he looks to be a major threat tonight despite the tricky draw.
PAY ME INTEREST (1) has been hard to fault recently. She was a winner last week when she defeated MOTU RAMPAGE by 1.8 meters. She meets a tougher field tonight but she is still a very strong chance from the inside draw.
DONT TELL WILLIAM (5) has been very consistent since returning from spell. He has been running second behind the inform REGAL SCRIBE the last couple of weeks. Tonight is his best chance to win a race since returning from a spell.
RONZEL GRINNER (4) is a smart beginner and is also worth consideration.

Race 5: KEVIN & KAY SEYMOUR PACE

WESTAR SAM (4) was beaten by 2.1 meters behind ABSOLUTION last week. He was a winner the week before that. Tonight is a step down in class. He will take some beating.
UNCLE LEO (7) ran home well after galloping during the score in his most recent run. If he does everything right tonight he will pose as a major threat.
SON OF RAYSON (5) hasn’t been able to win a race since returning from a spell. Tonight is a tougher field compared to recent starts but he has to be considered based off ability.
BELLA SOFIA (2) and YANKEE CLIPPER (3) are also chances.

Race 6: 2020 SA SQUARE TROTTERS ASSOCIATION TROTTERS DERBY

MAGICAL (4) matches up really well against this field. She is a smart beginner from the mobile start and she will be tough to beat.
IM HECTOR (3), MILLYS MAGIC (2) and CEEJAY SUCCESS (5) look to be the next best.

Race 7: 2020 PARKER CLASSIC

TEN NO SPUR (3) has tons of ability but can do things wrong. If he trots all of the way he will be very tough to beat.
ALL THAT GLITTERS (7) is shooting for three wins in a row tonight. She is worth strong consideration.
STARING AT ME (1), ROCKYBOMBA (6) and QUICK QUAKER (5) are also chances.

Race 8: NEWSPOT MOTOR GROUP PACERS DISCRETIONARY

BETTORHAVTIME (6) is going for 8 wins in a row tonight. The 40 meter handicap shouldn’t phase him. He is the best horse in the state at the moment and will be extremely tough to beat.
LOOKOFALEGEND (2) was a recent trial winner at Gawler and is worth consideration.
LOVABLE LARRIKIN (3) and CHARMING MAJOR (4) look the next best.

This is  Uphill Battle or Hilly as he is known.
Uphill Battle came to SA in 2011 from Sydney and was raced in the North by Lindsay Stam and later by Greg and Bradley Sims.
Retired from racing in 2016 after only 102 starts for 9 wins and 37 placings Hilly then arrived at Chapel Lodge where he was broken into saddle by Kerry. Lauren and her mother volunteered at Chapel Lodge and they fell in love with the 14yo gelding and so Lauren continued with Hillys education.  The pair compete at pony club, encourage shows and inter-school shows.

A person shall not say, publish or write or cause to be said, published or written anything malicious, intimidatory or otherwise improper about the Controlling Body, its members and employees or the Stewards or anyone else associated with the harness racing industry.
The Stewards firmly remind all participants of the need to be mindful of any content or comments they elect to put on any social media platform, Stewards will not tolerate unacceptable commentary directed at the Controlling Body, its members, employees, the Stewards or any one associated with the Harness Racing Industry. Failure to adhere to these expectations will result in significant penalties being imposed.
BRANDS

Please ensure the brands of horses are clipped.
As we move from the summer months towards the winter period a horses coat will lengthen and reading the brand of a horse can become difficult.
It is a requirement of all trainers that under AHRRule 94(3) the area surrounding the brand is to be kept clipped.

Policy Changes

As we prepare for life after Covid-19, HRSA, as SA’s harness racing regulator, needs to ensure that the industry in the state is best positioned to meet the challenges moving forward.
While we are constantly looking to grow and enhance our product, we nonetheless need to ensure that we continue to challenge costs and reduce industry overhead wherever possible.
Consequently, HRSA have embarked on a series of procedural changes that will create greater organisational and economic efficiencies within our organisation. Two changes advised are: -
  1. Race Nominations
Effective 1st July 2020 all racing nominations must be made by way of HarnessWeb.
In making this determination HRSA is mindful of time occupied by Racing Office staff in dealing with telephone calls relating to nominations, which on many occasions, are unnecessary with the time involved in dealing with these matters being considerable.
We understand that these changes represent a significant shift for some who have not previously used the HarnessWeb portal. However, should anyone require assistance is setting up a HarnessWeb account, including being shown how to navigate the site, and how to nominate, then please contact the HRSA office and we will assist you with the transition.
Note: It is important that when nominating for more than one race at a meeting that you preference the most desirable race. This greatly assisting when fields are being drawn.
  1. On-Line Scratching’s
Effective immediately, trainers wishing to scratch a horse from an engagement at a race meeting can do so through the HarnessWeb portal.
Previously this facility was only available prior to the close of nominations, however is now available up until acceptance time for a race meeting.
Trainers also now have the ability to scratch a horse online after the fields are released up until 9am on the day of the race. Any late scratchings will need to be made by contacting a Steward or the Racing Office as per the current policy.
This change will provide trainers with the ability to better manage their processes without the requirement to attempt to contact the Stewards or the Racing Office.

HRA will be following up on ANY discrepancies and incorrect information.
