Hello My Friends:

I have four short but important items for you today.

First, our nation is focusing on race relations and racial tensions right now, with the tipping point being the killing of native Houstonian George Floyd in Minnesota. I feel this in my bones and I spoke about it in some detail this past Sunday. I encourage you to watch or re-watch the message from Pentecost Sunday called “Welcome Holy Spirit.” If you only want to watch the comments regarding George Floyd and race relations, go the latest sermon found here and start at the 8:00-minute mark. However, the entire message, in my opinion, is worthy of your full attention due, not to the speaker, but the subject matter.

Second, we resume in-person worship this Sunday at 8:30am and 11:00am. Please follow our attendance guidelines and self-evaluate if this is the right time for you to personally be here. Please feel no undue pressure to attend in person. However, if you decide to, we are eager to welcome you. And yes, by all means, we will continue to Livestream both services for those wanting to continue worshipping from home.

Third, Kyle Strickland from our staff is leading a new Online class at 10:00am on Sundays called Online Conversations. Everyone, whether in Houston or not, is welcome. Kyle is walking through selections from the gospel of Luke where Jesus taught his disciples at pivotal points in their spiritual walk. Some Sundays will also include book reviews and interviews. Join the class via YouTube here.

Fourth, next Sunday, June 14 we are hosting a food drive for the Second Mile Mission Center. Second Mile has served over 120,000 people since COVID-19 relief efforts began. However, there are still Fort Bend families in need and we can make a difference. Bring the needed items listed below to the building on Sunday, June 14 between 8:00am-3:00pm. Large boxes labeled with these items will be on the front porch at the main entrance of our building. Just place your items in the right boxes and you are done. Thanks for making a difference!

Here are the needed items:

  • Soup
  • Canned Vegetables
  • Pinto Beans
  • Peanut Butter
  • Rice
  • Pasta/Dry Noodles

All God’s very best to you my friends,
Ronnie
