This month we celebrate Indigneous History Month in Canada. The United Church of Canada enjoys a long history of advocacy, supporting Indigenous rights from the 1971 Day of Prayer, to the first Apology to Residential School Victims, to the adoption of the TRC Calls to Action and UNDRIP into our ministry of Reconciliation.
It is important to lift that up that history at this time when we are confronting many issues in our communities across the country. HIstory can guide and instruct us about the expectations of our communities of faith.
You are invited to join us on June 12 at 10 am to take part in a short history of Treaty 7, the history of the church in southern Alberta and the issues confronting us today. This is an important opportunity to learn background history and engage in questions for June 21st, Indigenous People's Day.
