This month the Youth Services Department has lots to offer virtually through Zoom! You can view the entire programming roster by age here on our website. AND, don't forget to sign up for our summer reading quest - a way to encourage reading, activity and creativity...plus you can work towards prizes along the way!
 

How to attend our virtual programs
All Blackstone Library summer programs will be conducted through the free video conferencing software Zoom. In order to receive the link to attend a program, you must register for the event. To learn more about Zoom click here.

Once you register for your date you will receive an email around 10AM the morning of with our ZOOM meeting number and password to gain access to our virtual storytime. Storytime kits are available for pickup with sign up, one per child and while supplies last - specifics on "how to" will be emailed. Storytimes start the week of June 15th for ages 5 and under.

Join us once a month for a virtual book club that features different books from Rick Riordan Presents – a small publishing sect that’s goal is to share unprecedented cultures and backgrounds through stories inspired by their mythology, folklore and heritage.

Sign up to meet the fourth Tuesday of every month throughout the summer and you will be sent an email with our ZOOM meeting number and password the morning of our club date so that you can join in the discussion.

First up, Storm Runner by J.C. Cervantes, which is available for download on Hoopla. We'll pick the next title before each meeting ends. For grades 3 - 6.

ScienceTellers: A Virtual Space where Science & Stories Join Forces


Friday, June 19

3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Watch a fun fantasy filled adventure and discover just how ‘cool’ matter can be! It’s time to see what happens when dragons and an ice sorceress meet. Throughout the showing the ScienceTellers will answer questions, conduct polls/quizzes and even teach a science experiment you can do at home! This is truly an interactive experience.

Once you register you will receive an email the day of the program with a link to join everyone in ZOOM. For the entire family.

Thursday, June 25

3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Every animal has a story so the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center is going to share how animals tell theirs by using their senses! During this program families will investigate the keen senses of various animals and how they use them in order to survive. The center will use a combination of books and live animals to showcase how snakes, turtles, frogs and even owls use certain senses to connect with the world.
