DANA POINT COVID-19 COMMUNITY UPDATE JUNE 5
Check our Facebook Page for the latest updates.

City:  As we are experiencing wider reopening of businesses across the State, the City will be scaling back its COVID community updates to one or two times per week depending on announcements from State and local health authorities.  While the State is providing industry guidance, county health officers will be making decisions regarding reopening different sectors of local economies.  We look forward to hearing from the County on additional sectors of the economy getting the green light.

While the situation is fluid, the City will be watching local case counts and hospitalizations as we move through the summer, with the hope that numbers stay low and City events planned for later in summer can be confirmed.  This includes opening the Community Center and resuming recreation classes with modifications.

Registration for Summer Recreation classes has been pushed back due to the ongoing closure of the Dana Point Community Center caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Registration will open at 7:30am, Monday, June 22nd. Classes are scheduled to begin the week of July 13th.

City Hall has reopened to the public, Monday through Friday, with modifications. Walk-ins are from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon, and by appointment from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm (call 248-3500).  The City has initiated a number of protocols, procedures, and guidelines to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for employees and the public, and to reduce the potential for transmission of COVID-19 in the workplace. These protocols include mandatory face coverings and temperature screenings for both City staff and members of the public before receiving in-person services at City Hall. Read more about it here.

County:  The City has been in contact with Supervisor Bartlett’s office regarding the $75 million in federal stimulus aid to be distributed to small businesses and nonprofits in Orange County. More information about this program, which will be facilitated by the Small Business Development Center, will be available in the coming days.  Check our Facebook page for updates.

The County has free COVID-19 testing for asymptomatic and symptomatic essential workers. Please visit lhi.care/covidtesting or call 1 (888) 634-1123 to schedule an appointment.  The OC COVID-19 Testing Network offers PCR testing that identifies if a person is currently infected. If you are symptomatic and cannot get tested through your doctor or do not have insurance, please visit www.ochealthinfo.com/covidtest to schedule an appointment.
