The 13th Sunday in COVID Time
Sunday, June 14, 202o
This Sunday our worship will focus on discipleship. We will rejoice in and celebrate our Christian education programs; those who lead them, and those who partake. Tune in to witness a virtual Discipleship class and share in Ms. Nancy's pain as she tries to live the gospel while teaching it to a couple of rather rambunctious disciples-yet-to-be. Just as it will (hopefully!) be playful and entertaining, we will even more lift up the gift of shared learning, and the command to use well what we have been taught in God's service.
We will also take a moment to recognize a transition in the life of one of our Saints. After having retired, Chris Garrett will be moving to Hartford, Connecticut on Monday, so we will surround her in a socially distant circle to commission, bless, and pray with her.
As per our pattern, we will send out the YouTube link to the service on Saturday evening. If you would like to receive these services, call the church office to have Twyla add you to the distribution list.
May your evening be filled with grace that abounds, and light that brings...
Peace,
Andy

The "Reopening" Plan
Dear Hanover Saints,
Our Elders have decided we will continue with recorded worship services until July 19. Barring any developments that would make it unsafe, we are planning to worship together in person again on Sunday, July 26.
The Elders and Worship Committee are working diligently on the reopening plan, which is a daunting task. Given all the needed precautions, worship will be quite different. Everything from how we come and go, sing, pray, preach, give, and sit will be new for all of us. There will be new protocols for which worship leaders will be trained. And we are committed to creating a way to offer our services so that any who cannot, or choose not to, attend can still partake in the Spirit.
In the time leading up to the day of our reunion, we will be constantly communicating the details so that we will all have a sense of what we can expect.
May you continue to receive God’s presence in each of your days and places, and may you be blessed with deep and abiding faith and hope…and patience. Let us wait in…
Peace,
Andy

An Interfaith Message of Solidarity
On Tuesday, clergy members from the 9th Ward Interfaith Coalition gathered through Zoom screens and recorded various messages, readings, and prayers that address the divisions and challenges of this day. CLICK HERE to see the recording. May God bless the messages of hope that we offer and receive - especially when they come from the wellspring of our diversity.

As we would normally include this as an insert in our weekly bulletin, here is some information on the Presbyterian Mission program for Pentecost. To make a donation to this special offering, please mark your check as "Pentecost Special Offering" on the memo line. Thank you.
If we all do a little, it adds up to a lot.

Drop-off in person: If you want to hand your check to the office in person, just call the office at (302) 658-5114 and we'll arrange a time to be there to greet you.
And perhaps easiest of all...

A Special Service
Like our Mother's Day recorded service, we are honoring fathers and people who have been like fathers to us, and we are looking for your submissions...
If you would like to make a short, less-than-two-minutes recording, talking about someone who has been a father figure in your life, please send it by email to Twyla at: churchadmin@hanoverchurch.org by Wednesday, June 17.
Thank you.

Family Promise of Northern New Castle County continues to serve our families experiencing homelessness this summer. Even though our rotational network is temporarily closed due to the pandemic, Family Promise is assisting these families at their Hospitality House location. We can help Family Promise now by fundraising through the Highmark Virtual Walk for a Healthy Community.

A "VIRTUAL" JEREMIAH'S COFFEEHOUSE!
This talent call is going out to everyone - we'd like to have a "virtual" Jeremiah's Coffee House! If you have something to share - musical, poetry, a story, a craft - anything - take a short recording of it and send it in to the Church Office at: churchadmin@hanoverchurch.org. Once we gather our recordings, we'll have Tom Davis work his magic on them, and make them into a "virtual" coffeehouse.

CLICK HERE to hear a version of Psalm 40 by the group U2
I waited patiently for the Lord
He inclined and heard my cry
He brought me up out of the pit
Out of the mire and clay
I will sing, sing a new song
I will sing, sing a new song
How long to sing this song
How long to sing this song
How long, how long, how long
How long, to sing this song
He set my feet upon a rock
And made my footsteps firm
Many will see
Many will see and fear
I will sing, sing a new song
I will sing,…
