Loyal customers double as friends
The last few months have been a roller coaster. Busy day, then a not so busy week. Throughout this time, there have been some notable gestures by customers of The Taffy Shop, as we tread water in the challenging new world of small business. Here's one: A lady calls and asks to send some taffy to her grandson, serving the country aboard a navy ship 'somewhere in the world'... We quote the order, and the customer says that her budget was higher, and could we increase the amount of taffy? Her goal was to support small business, and send something encouraging to her grandson and his shipmates. Well, we did increase the taffy and a couple days later started the box of 400 individual bags of taffy on their journey to deliver a message of appreciation to them from Colorado. That she chose our small business to support did make a difference for us, and it really reinforced the need for us to stick with it and continue delivering a good product to excellent customers. Thanks Judy! We hope your grandson Kyle, and all of his friends enjoyed their treats.

Send a box to Dad
It's no secret, when you're not looking your Dad eats a piece or two from the family box of taffy. It's a glimpse back to the first time he tasted this taffy, then shared it with his date, then shared it with his kids... Or, your Dad tried our taffy for the first time last week. Either way, we think he would enjoy a box of this old fashioned treat. We'll send the box, and include a hand written note if you like- order soon though (the Post Office has been known to delay Mothers Day gifts). This year, Fathers Day is on Sunday June 21st.

And now, the answer to the dad joke: "What's the difference between a bad joke and a dad joke?" The first letter! Use code D4DAD to get $5 off your mail order, valid through June 19th for online orders only.

Estes Park is OPEN
There was recently some controversial publicity by the state visitors bureau which advertised that Colorado was essentially closed, which was odd because at the time, Colorado was not closed. There are different levels of virus safety measures in place around Colorado as there are across the country- but if you've ever dreamed of Estes Park in the summer without a million people, the time is now- and there are miles and miles of trails and open space. Just today, in June, the wait at the traffic light was 30 seconds, there were 5 cars lined up at the other red light, and parking lots right downtown had space to leave your vehicle with ease. Although they seem to change frequently, today, here are some guidelines in place:

1. Masks are not required outside (as they were previously) in Estes Park
2. Masks are required to be worn by customers in most businesses, unless they have implemented some extra safety measures. Employees are required to wear them.
3. All businesses are under some kind of occupancy limit, which will be posted, and 'social distancing' is being encouraged.
4. Restaurants are now mostly open, with some guidelines for seating density and masks that permit a mask-free experience, once you're seated.
5. Theaters and other public gathering places are opening slowly, standards still being revealed
6. Rocky Mountain National Park (including Trail Ridge Road) is OPEN, but entry requires a scheduled entry ticket (even if you have an annual pass) unless you go in before 6am or after 5pm. RMNP INFO
