Moving Forward

As our churches begin to open, we are excited to share new volunteer opportunities from a Social Distancing Rosary Ministry to a training for new Ushers to help our churches open up safely!

COFFEE & CONVERSATION:
First Sunday Formation

**Join us on the Sacred Heart Shady Ave. Lawn**
Sun., June 7 at 10 a.m.

It looks like it will be a beautiful day tomorrow! We'll be meeting on the Shady Ave. side lawn at Sacred Heart church for this month's Coffee & Conversation. Please bring your own chair/blanket and your own coffee and snacks and help us maintain social distancing guidelines. We'll once again be diving deeper into this week's readings.

WEEKEND MASS UPDATE

Mass times in person this weekend quickly filled up with the limit of 25 people. You can still view the parish livestream this week on the Facebook page at 4:30 p.m., 9:00 a.m. or 11:00 a.m. Beginning with daily Masses on Monday, June 8th and continuing through next weekend’s Mass schedule you will no longer need to register for Mass. Next weekend, each Mass will have a capacity of 100 people. And the parish plans to continue offering livestream Mass for those who will still be unable to attend in person to virtually participate.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY:
Social Distancing Rosary Ministry

Are you interested in a safe opportunity to interact with others from our grouping and pray the rosary?  Join our Social Distancing Rosary Ministry. Volunteers will be connected to parishioners requesting a visit. They will then reach out to coordinate a day and time to visit and pray. Volunteers will stay outside of the house and pray with parishioners from within your doorway, a window or porch. Social distancing will be practiced, and this will allow an opportunity for Christian fellowship and spending time in prayer together with our Blessed Mother Mary.

If you are interested in joining the Social Distancing Rosary Ministry, please sign up on the online form below. Anyone is welcome sign up and families and households are encouraged to volunteer together.

Are you interested in receiving a visit to pray with others from a safe distance? Use the same online form and choose the "request a visit" option.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY:
Call for Ushers

Fr. Steve Palsa and Music Director JR Daniels are seeking volunteer ushers as the churches begin to open. On the weekend of June 13 and 14, the full Mass schedule will resume at St Raphael and Sacred Heart. Duties have changed for Greeters and Ushers. It is anticipated that many of the current volunteers choose to discontinue in the Ministry of Hospitality at this time due to age and health concerns. There is most certainly a need for additional volunteers who would be able to help at St Raphael and/or Sacred Heart.

The first step for new volunteers is to have the Safe Environment protocol completed. If  you have not have this done, information about Safe Environment is found at www.diopitt.org  then click on Child Protection at the very top right, then click on volunteer. Pam Matia is our grouping Safe Environment coordinator.  If there are questions or need help please check with Pam @ pam@bestPGHparish.org.

Training will take place this week on June 10 at 7:00 pm at Sacred Heart or June 11 at 7:00 pm at St. Raphael. If you are interested in volunteering, reach out to Fr. Steve at frsteve@bestpghparish.org

Responses to the National Protests

We are grateful to Rose for coordinating and leading us in a Rosary to pray for the end of racial injustice. The Pastoral Council is discerning our Parish Response to the deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, among others, and a report will be made in next week’s bulletin. This week, the US Conference of Catholic Bishops released a letter, which can be found is this week's bulletin along with a letter to address racism in our hearts and communities entitled "open wide our hearts".

PRAY WITH US AT NOON
Oratio Imperato

Against the Spread of Coronavirus

God our Father, we come to you in our need to ask your protection against the Coronavirus (COVID-19) that has claimed lives and affected many.

We pray for your grace for the people tasked with studying the nature and cause of this virus and its disease and of stemming the tide of its transmission.

Guide the hands and minds of medical experts that they may minister to the sick with competence and compassion, and of those governments and private agencies that must find a cure and solution to this pandemic.

We pray for those afflicted. May they be restored to their health soon.

Grant us the grace to work for the good of all and to help those in need. Grant this through our Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever. Amen.

Our Lady Undoer of Knots, pray for us.
St. Raphael the Archangel, pray for us.
St. Jude the Apostle, pray for us.
St. Gianna, pray for us.
St. Rocco, pray for us.
St. Elizabeth Seton, pray for us.
