HOME Slough’s Father’s Day edition

Father's Day is fast approaching and the 2020 holiday could potentially be the strangest one in our lifetime. Taking your Dad for a pint at his favourite pub or treating him to nice meal at a local restaurant is out of the question. Despite this, there are plenty of ways to send your Dad some appreciation this year. Here are some lockdown Father's Day gift ideas and inspiration to get you started. In case you've forgotten, Father’s Day is on Sunday 21 June,
so you still have a bit of time to prepare!
Cards
This is still the most affordable way to celebrate and share some thoughts with your Dad on Father's Day. If you don’t fancy making one yourself, there are plenty of online card companies to choose from.  Moonpig has tonnes of card designs ready to send suitable for all ages.
Other popular card sites include Not on the Highstreet, Brainbox Candy, Funky Pigeon, Card Factory and Etsy.
Beer Brewing kits
Brewing beer at home is more simple than you'd think, thanks to widely available kits like the Brew Dog Punk IPA brewing kit. The kit has everything your Dad needs for easy stove-top brewing. By following the instructions, and letting the results carbonate for about two weeks, your Dad could  end up with around seven pints of the punchy Punk IPA when he's finished. Kits are also available from other breweries such as the Brooklyn Brew shop Warriors Double IPA, which you can find in the lockdown beer brewing ideas list on Amazon.
If gin is more to your Dad’s taste, you could gift him the Sandy Leaf set which contains classic citrus, chocolate orange and botanical blends, all of which can flavour up to ten bottles of gin.
If your Dad would prefer the booze without the effort, you might like to try one of these lockdown alcohol delivery services, many of whom offer a fantastic selection of gift sets at very affordable prices.
Geeky merchandise
You could always satisfy your Dad’s inner geek with a 'totally geeky' Mystery Geek Box. These boxes  contain a hand-picked selection of great items including action t-shirts, action figures, comics and stationery.
Top gear
Help Dad catch up with the team as they push their cars (and themselves) to the limits in the world’s biggest motoring show. 35 Episodes to stream on BBC iPlayer.
Model making
Why not encourage your Dad to take on a project and flex his craftsmanship this Father's Day with a model making kit. With LEGO's architecture range, he could build  the London, New York or Shanghai skylines, or a scaled model of the Great Wall of China or even the Statue of Liberty! Not on the High Street also have a great range of  model making kits perfect for Father's Day to suit every pocket.
Organise a virtual party
You may not be able to be with your Dad this Father’s Day, but that doesn't mean you can't have a party. With FaceTime, Skype, Zoom or even Houseparty, you could get the drinks flowing with all the family. Why not organise a fancy-dress competition or host a quiz night? The options are endless and it’s a great way to take your Dad's mind off the pandemic.

Food Glorious Food
Is your Dad a bit of a foodie? For a selection of sweet and savoury surprises, Degusta Box can deliver subscribers a selection of treats every month – all for a cheaper price than you would pay in the shops. Not On The High Street also has plenty to offer from sweet treat hampers,  charcuterie and luxurious hampers filled to the brim with wine and cheese, while  Funky Hampers stock a selection of amazing decade hampers full of sweets from the 60s/70s/80s.
A perfect gift for your Dad, right?

Guitarist on Call
Guitarist on call is a digital service through which you can book a professional guitarist online. The guitarist will play your Dad’s favourite melodies on the live video call with you and your father on a conference. Express your love with this digital gesture!

Sign Dad up for an online gaming session
If your Dad is into gaming, Facebook has introduced a new feature, Facebook Gaming Tournaments, through which anyone can join or organise an online gaming tournament, so if he’s feeling lonely this father’s day, get him to log on.

Music
If you want to pick up something for your Dad ahead of Father's Day, check out Townsend Music, who have a great selection of exclusive signed CD and Vinyl including signed copies by The Psychedelic Furs, Feeder, Simple Minds and Status Quo among others. They also have a great selection of exclusive releases and plenty of band t-shirts for the cool Dads out there.

Sports
Keeping up with your favourite sports isn't always easy, even without a pandemic, but Ranker have put together a list of the top sports podcasts streaming new episodes for sports enthusiasts everywhere. From fantasy football podcasts that help you figure out your season,  to podcasts from experts like Bill Simmons and The Ringer that will help keep your Dad up on all the plays on and off the field, there's a podcast for every fan and sport.
It's not all breaking news, as some of these podcasts talk sports history, like the audio documentary 30 For 30, from ESPN.
Or how about reaching out to your Dad’s idol
Is your Dad's favourite celebrity a sports personality, a musician or comedian? Why not try to reach out to these celebrities on social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) and ask them if they would possibly be able to wish your Dad a happy birthday - or even if they could create a short video personalised to your Dad to make his day. It won’t cost you anything and you’ll automatically become your Dad’s favourite child.
Grooming products
Everyone needs a little lockdown TLC, even Dads. If you think your Dad could benefit from a few more shaves during lockdown, you could gift him a shaving set from Gillette this Father's Day and save 33% for a limited time. If you're uncertain what fragrance, haircare or skincare products Dad likes, check out Lookfantastic who have an extensive range of products for men.
Say it with chocolate
A beautifully presented box of chocolates never fails to impress. When selecting Dad's box, don’t forget to think about what he prefers – milk or dark chocolate or perhaps a selection? Is it truffles that tickle his fancy or does he go gaga for ganaches?
