Each June two of the country's most anticipated series are offered to customers on a pre-arrival basis: The Two Hands Flagship and Single Vineyard wines.

With co-founder and proprietor Michael Twelftree still firmly at the helm after 20 years, Two Hands maintains a strong commitment to the philosophy of ‘quality without compromise'. They do this by utilising a strict classification process to ensure that only the best barrels each vintage are deemed worthy of being bottled under their label.

Six months after vintage, every barrel in the winery is blind tasted by Michael Twelftree and given a classification grade associated with its place in the Two Hands portfolio: from A+ to D (and anything C or below not used in Two Hands final production).

In recent years, a concerted focus on managing the effects of climate change in the Two Hands Vineyards has seen Twelftree and viticulturalist Travis Coombe explore their practices in a new video series. From clay spraying to sap flow monitoring the producers can keep a close eye on managing what is becoming a very real issue for South Australian vineyards and winemakers.

The Flagship Series represents the very finest varietal barrel selections from each vintage.

Each year, only a handful of barrels come in at the top of the class, scoring an A+; these barrels become wines in the Flagship Series. Serious wines that represent the very finest varietal selections from each vintage.

We have again secured a small allocation of these exquisite reds from the Flagship Series and in this sublime 2017 vintage have been offered a limited cases of the Adrestia; the first and only white wine in the series.

Aphrodite Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

BAROSSA VALLEY, SOUTH AUSTRALIA

With only a few barrels selected, Aphrodite is derived from our best low yielding Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard sites and showcases its varietal hallmarks of blackcurrant and mineral. From tiny berries, the concentration of flavours is slowly extracted during fermentation to produce a balanced but fruit driven wine with great ageing potential. This wine has plush dense fruit backed by magnificent mouth-feel and weight, matured in 100% new French oak.

Aerope is the Two Hands estate flagship, significantly a pure Grenache wine, representing the very finest old vines Barossa Grenache. Starting out as a trial in the cellar the Adrestia turned out to the a wine of texture and blanace that fully merited the introduction of a white wine to the flagship series.

Two Hands have been strong proponents of regionality since the beginning, but through the Single Vineyard Series they take it to the next level.

The Single Vineyard Series of wines are simply named after the block (in the inimitable Two Hands style), the road and the township from which they come. The below maps show the location and elevation of each block.

The newest to the fold is the Waterfall Block, located close to the Adelaide CBD. Waterfall Block is complexing steep site that needs to be seen to be believed: an amazing micro climate that allows the low-yielding vines to ripen at their leisure with a canopy that keeps moving along with minimal stress.
