The Knolls at Slaughter Creek HOA has been working diligently to oppose the extension of Wayne Riddell Loop to meet South 1st Street in front of Akins High School. The Village of San Leanna Board of Aldermen and staff have voiced our opposition to the road as well but there is more power in numbers.
The extension of Wayne Riddell Loop to meet South 1st Street would have detrimental effects on our Village as it will potentially open up access to San Leanna Drive, Sombrero Drive, and Circle Drive to cut-through traffic from South 1st Street and the new 750 unit apartment complex.
The following is an excerpt from an email I received from the Knolls HOA this morning outlining steps we can take to voice our opposition to this road connection:

Neighbors,
1) Please sign up asap to speak at Thursday's (June 11th) City Council meeting. Here is the link for the online form that you need to submit. We are in district 5 and the agenda item is 101.

2) Spread the word to your neighbors either by phone, email or block walk. Print & Take the 'Protect our Neighborhoods and Creeks' flyer to your neighbors!
3) Come Out Tuesday June 9th at 5:45 to create the great Wayne Riddell traffic jam (facing towards the dead end, park next to the curb just in case an emergency vehicle needs to get through). Thanks for the safety reminder, Ruth!

4) Attend the online City Council Meeting this Thursday the 11th.
5) Consider joining & attending SANA (South Austin Neighborhood Alliance) meetings as we unite HOA's and other neighborhoods south of the river. "Let's put Unity into Community"

SPEAKER REGISTRATION INFORMATION FOR THE
JUNE 11, 2020 REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
Public comment will be allowed via telephone; no in-person input will be allowed.
All speakers must register in advance (Wednesday, June 10 by Noon).
Registration will open Monday, June 8 at 10 a.m.
All public comment will occur as follows:
For all items on the consent agenda, Public Hearings and all non-consent items other than Zoning, public comment will be taken at 10:00 a.m.
For all zoning items public comment will be taken at 2:00 p.m.
To speak remotely at the June 11, Council Meeting, residents must:
Submit the online registration form found at: https://cityofaustin.formstack.com/forms/austin_city_council_speaker_signup
Registration must be received by 12 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10.
Once the registration form is received, residents will receive either an email or phone call providing the telephone number to call on Thursday.
Speakers must call in at least 45 minutes prior to meeting start in order to speak, late callers will not be accepted and will not be able to speak.
Handouts or other information may be emailed to City.Clerk@austintexas.gov by 12 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10. This information will be provided to Mayor and Council in advance of the meeting.
Any speaker who speaks prior to being called upon by the Mayor will be disconnected and will not be able to rejoin the call.
If you need Spanish Translation Services, you must email City.Clerk@austintexas.gov at least 48 hours in advance of the meeting.
