FOURTH OF JULY PARADE CANCELED
After much deliberation, the Druid Hills 4^th of July parade has been cancelled for this year, one more casualty of the coronavirus pandemic. The parade organizers quickly determined that a traditional parade, with enthusiastic crowds in the street and on the front lawn, was clearly unworkable, and finally determined that it would be potentially unsafe and therefore irresponsible to sponsor any kind of 4th of July gathering this year.  This will be the first break in the parade since its 1976 debut, which is not a happy thought, but we are reminded that many longer, more important traditions are being broken this year for the first time. Nonetheless, everyone is encouraged to show their spirit and patriotism by decorating their yards and houses for the enjoyment of others on their daily walks, cycling or drive-bys.  Let’s look forward to seeing each other on the 4^th, but only from an appropriate distance..
