There are 28 stops on the map now: we're growing all the time and will be improving how it tells you what is open, where, and when. Soon we'll make a larger advertising push. There are 71 users so far...
Two Youth Internship Opportunities with the Hornby Island Arts Council are available:
-Digital Arts, Communications and Technology Intern: $17.50/hr at 20hrs/week for 8 weeks
-Office Assistant Intern: $17.50/hr at 20hrs/week for 16 weeks
Applicants must:
-Submit a 1-page Resume with References, and 1 page Letter of Interest to executivedirector@hornbyarts.com by June 17th.
-Be between 15 and 30 years old, be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or hold Refugee Status, and be a Hornby Island resident.
-Have capacity to work at home (computer, internet, phone), facility with technology—email, word processing, social media, spreadsheets—and be self-motivated and disciplined.
Desirable Traits:
-Have facility with or considerable interest in work with audio and video material (pre and post-production, recording, editing etc.), graphic design, and photography.
-Hold advanced computer and online resource skills: website management, app management, customer management software, Zoom, Google Suite, DropBox, Slack.
-Have experience with Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Mailchimp, public communications and appreciation for knowledge mobilization.
-Hold strong capacity to work independently to deadlines.
-Have interest producing online programming.
-Have interest in NGOs and archival work.
Our window for employment extends from the present until February 28th, and the weeks of employment must be consecutive. Presently we are collecting interest and will follow up with applicants for interviews accordingly. Applicants should express their other commitments and plans for the Summer and Fall so that we may assess compatibility with our evolving timelines.
In sum, in addition to administrative support, you will be working with mentorship to progress digital content-creation: collecting photographs, short films, interviews and more to help establish programming that highlights Hornby arts activities that the public can safely enjoy throughout the duration of the pandemic. The end goals are: highlighting Hornby’s artists, and documenting arts histories and practices that our community is proud of and from which our community draws solidarity.
