Important announcement to our SBI family regarding Starbase Indy 2020

 

To All of Our Geek Thanksgiving Family:

2020 has been a momentous and difficult year for America and the world at large. We hope that everyone who has attended Starbase Indy – past, present or future – is safe and well as we move into summer.

As you may have guessed, Starbase Indy’s board of directors has come to the sad conclusion that we must cancel the 2020 convention. While the details surrounding Covid-19 are changing rapidly, no one can guess where we might be by November. The process of planning and running a convention is a long one and for this reason we feel now is the appropriate time to err on the side of caution for the health of our attendees, guests, entertainers, vendors, artisans, volunteers and staff. Creating this event is a great responsibility and we are very aware of our need to protect people as well as preserve the financial future of the convention.

We had already begun planning for a great show this year. We anxiously await 2021 when we can share these plans with you! We miss our friends and we lament that they will miss seeing each other over Thanksgiving weekend. We urge all of you to use our Facebook group to connect with one another and share your lives and love for Star Trek until we can meet again in 2021.

For those of you who have already purchased badges, we will be contacting you shortly to arrange how you would like to handle your purchase. We will be offering three options:

(1) Roll over your purchase to 2021,
(2) Receive a full refund, or
(3) Donate the purchase price of your badge to Starbase Indy to help cover overhead costs through this year.
