Dear friends,
Its already mid June and the world has exploded several times over.
Still almost everything in my life is the same as before. I am so lucky and privileged, I know that...  however my perception of the world and the constant fear of "what ifs" is real. I know all of us feel it and I hope you are as lucky as I am to only experience the "what ifs".

In light of most recent social unrest, I make the statement: STOP RACISM now!
If you are in the part of the world where protests have not happened, or this issue feels distant to you, please take some time to read on it.  The Black Lives Matter movement is extremely important and I urge everyone to educate themselves. I am slowly going though this website and I'm happy to share thoughts and feelings with anyone interested to talk it through.

I am certainly experiencing white fragility and am working though my feelings and thoughts trying to be a better human, leader and supporter of the global dance community.

On another note, I have few exciting things coming up this summer and I am looking forward to sharing them with you.

Shifting Realities - Screendance LIVE on Facebook.

I've been dreaming that I would produce an evening of my dance films, where I'd invite all my friends, we would drink wine and eat popcorn, we will geek out on movement for the camera and have a good time...I've had this dream for a while now and due to lack of time and money its always been postponed.  Well, now in this virtual digital world, I've decided to not wait anymore.  Bring your wine and your popcorn and meet me online!

Statement:
My work (both stage and digital) centers around themes of otherness, womanhood, feminism, power dynamics and vulnerability. I am influenced by surrealism and science fiction and often engage the audience by inviting them on stage or choosing a non-traditional venue and format for my work. Mylar reflective material and custom lighting are integral part of my most recent stage, video, and photography work.
My dance films have been shown across the U.S. and in Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay, Bulgaria, Ireland and Bangladesh.

FUTURE FUTURE FUTURE?!?
It's been 18 years. I have been an immigrant for 18 years and now I am moving back to Bulgaria.  It's supposed to be temporary, yet I understand that once I get there... I will be an immigrant once more inside my own country and culture.
Artists are supposed to be chameleons, travelers, entertainers, illuminating the truths of society, culture and history.  And we are all those things, but with it comes the constant feeling of alienation. No place is actually home, no place is permanent. I know I will feel displaced once again, but hope this feeling will bring more inspiration.

Though these last 18 years I've learned a really important lesson
My family in Bulgaria will never really understand what I do and why.
BUT without their support, I would not be able to continue to make work, teach, dance for others, and produce performances and programs.  It truly takes a village to raise a child, and I'm excited to finally have the help of my DNA village to raise my two sons.

So coming next season....
I dream of an equable Get What You Need residency for Philly artists.
I dream of teaching dance and composition online.
I dream of starting a choreographic exchange between countries in the Balkans.
I dream of making a new piece to be performed in Bulgaria and elsewhere.
I dream of getting to perform in Eastern and Western Europe.
I dream of starting a dance improv troupe in Sofia.
I dream of starting a choreographic school/festival in Sofia.
I dream of making an artists exchange between Sofia and Philadelphia.
I dream of getting paid for all this.
I dream of breaking even.
I dream and dream and dream and if I get to only two of these big dreams, that would be something.
