As we continue to navigate our lives through the Coronavirus pandemic and now public outrage over the systemic violence against and murder of people of color in this country, it is not too early to think about what our next steps should be. In this email you will find two important opportunities for you in the next few weeks.
Many of us, in spite of stay-at-home orders, have been showing up at protests and vigils to honor the life of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and so many others who were brutalized and murdered by police. There are so many issues for us to take up, and we don't want the momentum of these days to be lost before we can start to develop plans to move the causes of racial & social justice forward. WE ARE OFFERING ACTIVIST TRAINING in the coming weeks!
Do you have an issue that energizes you? Are you angry and want substantive change? Do you want to make your voice be heard regarding police violence against people of color. We have a once in a generation opportunity for real change or we could lose it if we don't ORGANIZE NOW!

The first class will be June 16 at 7PM and we will organize from there. We will work together to help you develop your activism in a constructive way, with realistic & achievable goals & expectations. We want your voice to be amplified. We will help to safely propel your events by leaps and bounds. We will connect you with other activists who care about what you do throughout the state. The class will go over your rights as protesters, how to plan various highly impactful methods of civil disobedience, social media and how to organize, how to register.
The final project will be a county wide highly impactful event, organized and planned by workshop participants, with the support of the organized activist community. Indivisible DuPage, pictured below at the 2018 Women's March, has been at the forefront of political activism locally since it began in January 2017 to fight Trump's agenda. We were angrily targeted by Jeannee Ives and the Illinois Tea Party because they believe that we are one of the most effective methods of change locally. Shortly after you sign up you will be sent a link to the first Zoom class.
Also, there is a new group in formation that you should know about and think about joining, even if it is just to stay informed. Connecting 2 Each Other is just getting off the ground, and everything, including the name, is evolving. This group is focused on sharing information, resources and training to lift up and connect individuals and groups involved in the work of organizing rallies & campaigns to combat systemic racism. Please share this information and group with your members or people that you know. This needs to be distributive organizing and exponential in the scope of growth. We need to harness the work and momentum of all the groups we all belong to. If you have any questions please reach out!
Thinking about running for local office? President Obama, in his recent address to the nation, reminded us that all politics is local. There are many opportunities for you to step up and participate in the governing of our DuPage communities! You can start the process with candidate training:
