Updates 

Flexible responses during the COVID-19 crisis

MEAM has published new research examining the flexibilities that homelessness, substance misuse, mental health and criminal justice services have put in place to support people during the COVID-19 crisis, and how some of the positive aspects of these changes might be maintained in the future.

Ask the Network series 

MEAM is producing a series of recordings and blogs focused on multiple disadvantage and COVID-19.

This week, we spoke to Hull about their experiences and how they are planning for the future.

Latest policy news - COVID-19

Ban on evictions extended 

The government has announced that the temporary ban on evictions is to be extended by another 2 months, until August 23rd at the earliest.

Prison and probation services

Lucy Frazer MP, Minister for Prisons and Probation, has published a new framework detailing how restrictions imposed in prisons and probation during the crisis will be eased. 

Funding for domestic abuse charities

The MHCLG has announced that over 100 charities will share £8.1m to provide support to victims of domestic abuse. 

Courts to re-open

Some courts and tribunal buildings in England are reopening for face-to-face hearings this week with social distancing measures in place.

Substance misuse commissioners

A new forum for substance misuse commissioners has been established in partnership between the Local Government Association and the Association for Directors of Public Health. 

House of Lords call for evidence

The House of Lords Select Committee on Public Services has opened an inquiry into into what lessons our public services can learn from the COVID-19 pandemic. The deadline for submissions is 29 June.

Latest from Clinks

Clinks has published summaries of the new, post-COVID frameworks for prison services and probation services along with an update from the latest RR3 meeting.

Homeless Link

MHCLG and Homeless Link have announced 130+ successful applicants for a share of £6m of funding to support people experiencing homelessness.

Mind 

Mind is continuing to advocate for reform to the Mental Health Act and the implementation of the 2017-18 independent review of the Mental Health Act. 

Collective Voice 

Collective Voice has announced it will manage a £330k grants programme made available by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport for small charities providing grassroots substance misuse services.

Women's Aid report

Women's Aid has published a report exploring fears around housing expressed by women experiencing domestic abuse and how it can act as a barrier to seeking help.

Social Mobility Commission publishes report

The Social Mobility Commission has published its latest report on mobility in Britain from 2013-2020. It sets out a number of areas where more progress is needed from the government to improve people's life chances.
Learning Opportunities

COVID-19 and domestic abuse webinar

The National Lottery Community Fund will look at the impact the lockdown has had on victims of domestic abuse and the services that support them. It will take place on July 1st at 9.15am

Clinks Annual Conference

Clinks will hold its annual conference "Making all the difference" on 29 June.  

Homeless Link webinars

On 8 & 9 July Homeless Link will be holding an online Rough Sleeping Conference. Additionally there is a webinar on domestic abuse in homelessness settings - 16 June. 

CFE systems change evaluation webinar

CFE, the independent evaluators of the Fulfilling Lives programme, will be holding a webinar to look at effective evaluation of systems change work on 19 June.
