Inter-library Delivery has Resumed!

Statewide delivery between libraries has now resumed, so library cardholders can again request items from any CLAMS library for local pickup in Vineyard Haven. Delivery is operating on a reduced schedule, and it may take up to two weeks for requested material to arrive. If you need something immediately that is available at another island library, you may wish to make arrangements to pick up at the library where the item is available. All island libraries now offer contactless pickup services.

You may find that some recently published items are not yet available, since book orders were delayed or cancelled due to COVID-19. You can place a hold and we will notify you when your requested material becomes available. New books are being added to the collection daily, and we will be getting extra copies of in-demand items!

Follow the steps below to request books, movies, magazines and audiobooks and safely pick them up at Vineyard Haven Library. More information including a helpful video can be found on our website at http://vhlibrary.org/contactless.shtml

Select and request items including Books, Movies, & Audiobooks:

Schedule no contact pick up:
  • We will contact you to schedule pickup when your hold is ready
  • Requests will be fulfilled in the order they are received
  • We will do our best to fill same day holds placed by 11am
Collect your items:
  • Visit the library during your scheduled time slot
  • Wear a mask and maintain social distance of 6 feet
  • Be prepared to show your CLAMS Card or other ID
  • Our pickup area is located inside the library's entry vestibule
We can only pull library materials that you’ve put on hold in advance. We cannot fill walk-up requests at this time.

Returns
Items may only be returned in our curbside book drop only. Please do not return library materials in the hold pickup area. Returned items will be quarantined for up to one week before being checked in, so there will be a delay of up to 10 days between the date of return and when the item is removed from your CLAMS account. Martha’s Vineyard libraries are always fine free, and no late charges will accrue.

Safer at Home
The Center for Disease Control has indicated that older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions might be at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. These patrons may designate a family member or friend to pick up materials, or arrange for home delivery (available on a temporary, limited basis). Contact the Library Director at (508) 696-4210 x111, or email vhpl_delivery@clamsnet.org for more information.
