ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT
YADIRA CRUZ BOWDOIN COLLEGE STUDENT
AOT ALUM 2018
What are you studying at Bowdoin College?
I am double majoring in Computer Science and Digital and Computational Studies
What are your career aspirations and goals?
I want to be in first in my family to graduate from college and pursue a Master's in either Data Science or Product Management. I dream of finding a technical job where I am happy and financially stable so I can give back to my community and the programs that helped me become the young professional woman that I am today.
What was the most important skill you learned during your time at AOT?
During my time as a student at American On Tech, the most important skill that I learned was networking. Networking where not only are you connecting with people but you are maintaining those connections for years to come. The reason why I choose this as the most important skill is that as a rising junior in college, if it wasn’t for the connections I maintain throughout the years starting in 2016, I would have not been able to receive the opportunities that I have right now. If I need help with my computer science homework, I would text my AOT friends and they would help me right away. We do mock interviews for one another and forward each other opportunities that they might be interested in. Your network is your net worth and that is a saying that I go by. It is never about competition but simply about helping one another and making sure that we all succeed together.
