National Volunteer Week 2020
This weeks Facebook feed has been filled with many celebrations of volunteers across our member organisations. Check them out below!
Tairawhiti Community Voice

This Week is National Volunteer Week! A lot of the community organisations we support rely on volunteers to support them. We want to celebrate all volunteers this week and thank them for their contributions to our community and its organisations.
Meet Feilding ambulance officer Nicole Smith, who is one of over 1,500 members of our paid staff who also volunteer in their spare time! Nicole says, "It's such a rewarding feeling after successfully treating a patient and I think wow, we made a difference to that person's life." Thank you for your time and dedication, Nicole 👏 💚 #nvw2020 #volunteer

Te Hua o te Mahi Tahi - The benefit of working together, this has never been more evident than in recent months when Aotearoa has pulled together to keep our communities safe and healthy.
National Volunteer Week comes at a time when volunteers have played a crucial role in supporting communities, in emergency services, food banks, budgeting and advice and keeping connected. If you're looking for a way to recognise and acknowledge volunteers this NVW you might like to create a hand wave photo, video or group zoom and wave your appreciation for volunteers. Use the hashtags #NVW2020 #mahitahi #teamwork #tautoko #support #whakamiha
#appreciate #volunteers to add to the viral campaign.
Expanding to Northland: Free Disability Supported Employment Services

In Aotearoa, 1.1 million people (24%) have a disability, and only 22% have a job. Looking for employment can be an incredibly challenging and isolating experience for people with disabilities.

To improve these statistics, Geneva has teamed up with
Ministry of Social Development NZ to serve the Northland community with free employment services that find the best match between candidates with their employers.

“We are excited to expand our services to the Northland region so that so all New Zealanders regardless of disability can have the chance to showcase their talents and skills, contribute to their communities and live their best lives,”

It has been a strange year to connect with our community in a normal way. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we haven't held a remembrance service in 2020. So please join us as we unite our remembrance with the celebration of Matariki. We invite you all to be a part of the Hospice Tairawhiti Matariki Rememberance group. Share the love of your loved ones with our community.

We will be discussing how the stars of Matariki complement the Hospice Tairawhiti's Philosophy over the next few days. We look forward to building our Matariki Remembrance community over the next month. Link on groups or join by following this link https://www.facebook.com/groups/188260422616809/

There has never been a more important time in history for charities and skilled volunteers to connect. In Australia, we have millions of talented people who want to make a difference, and thousands of purpose-driven organisations looking for skilled volunteers. The challenge lies with these two groups finding one another, and in a fast and efficient way. Online volunteering can allow change-makers to find meaningful opportunities in seconds, and allow charities to source the talent they need in a swift and efficient manner.
