May/June 2020
President's Message:
Stronger, Together.
Hola Familia,

These last couple of weeks and months, have been beyond words for our local community. We’ve felt angry, frustrated, hopeless and left to grieve the murder of our black brothers and sisters not only here in Minneapolis, but in other cities of the country. We’ve all seen, experienced or learned about the consequences of systemic racism that many members of our local community confront every day. We’ve seen an awakening period from many, an incessant search about how to help and support, but more importantly a constant seek for Justice for the families and all members of the Black/African American community affected for so many years of untold actions of injustice.

Now it’s time to focus on how we move forward. We are standing in solidarity and support with our community and will continue to amplify the voices and messages that will help us confront these fundamental problems. You can read our organization full statement here. In addition, we’ve included more information and resources below to help provide a starting point for those seeking help or how to get involved.

I also want to bring to your attention other important updates from our chapter. Firstly, we’ve recently announced 10 students who have been recognized for their impressive academic background and accomplishments with the 2020 SHPE Twin Cities Scholarships. Thank you to our 2020 corporate sponsors and partners: Hormel Foods, Boston Scientific, Eaton, JAMF and St. Cloud State University for making this possible. Secondly, our annual election period has been finalized and new board members for fiscal year 2021 have been selected and will be starting the new term on July 1st. Thank you to our exceptional board members for this year, we were able to create great success and impact for our chapter and community.

Ultimately, I want to personally thank you all for the great support this past year. We are confronting these challenging times and adapting as we go. The new board will continue to adapt and evolve our programming and activities to better serve our members and our community. I believe in the power of this community and look forward to continuing serving and connecting again soon!

Un abrazo,
Esther Ledesma Pumarol

Registration is available on site but you will still need to sign up for a time slot when you arrive. The registration form is available in both English and Spanish. For other languages, there will be phone interpreters through the Language Line. If you were involved in protests, vigils, or neighborhood events, get tested for COVID-19!
