Thank you!
  • EMJS PAC would like to say a huge thank you to our school community for a great year, despite the unprecedented circumstances under which the year has ended! We appreciate all the support from EMJS parents and staff at PAC events throughout the year, and we hope that we can continue our community-building efforts in some form next year!

  • A special thank you to all of the EMJS teachers, staff and administration for their tireless efforts, particularly over the last few months when we know things haven't been easy!

  • We also want to take this opportunity to say thank you and good bye to several EMJS staff who are moving on from our school - Mr. Johnson, Mme Jeanne, Ms. Grigor and M. d'Entremont - best of luck at your new schools and thank you for all that you have done for EMJS students and their families. You will be missed!

  • And a final thank you to three members of our PAC Executive - Anne Tomyn, Carolyn Wick and Jessica McDiarmid - who are either leaving the school or stepping down from the Executive next year. We are grateful for all of their contributions to EMJS over the years - they are too numerous to list here, but hopefully all EMJS parents appreciate that many of the PAC-funded programs and activities that our children benefit from would not have been possible without them!

  • If you haven't had a chance to watch the fantastic EMJS talent show, you can watch it here. Thank you to Ms. Weisz for putting it together and to all the students who participated!
Congratulations Grade 5s!
  • We wish all EMJS grade 5 students the very best as they move on to middle school next year! Although this group of amazing students didn't get to celebrate the end of their time at EMJS the way they had planned, with support from the PAC, each grade 5 student is receiving a beautiful photo book as a graduation gift. Special thanks to Carolyn Wick and Tracey Mellor for putting the book together.

Do you have feedback for the PAC?
  • As the year comes to a close, the PAC Executive would love to hear from you! Please take a few minutes to complete this short survey and help us determine how best the PAC can support the EMJS community next year. You can find the survey here

  • You can also email us anytime at chair@emjspac.ca or exec@emjspac.ca
Reminder: Order school supplies for next year and support the PAC!
  • EMJS PAC is partnering with family-owned and Island-grown Monk Office again this year to offer online ordering for school supplies that can be delivered to your child(ren)'s classroom in September! When you order supply kits online through Monk, EMJS PAC receives $3 for each kit plus 10% of the total that we can put towards continued great programming and activities for EMJS students.

  • To make things easier, we pre-built grade-specific kits containing all required items (at reduced cost) from the supply lists provided by EMJS teachers. No need to stress about finding a “½ interlined ½ plain notebook” – if it is on the supply list for your child's grade, it is in the kit! It is important to remember that items listed as optional are not required.
    • Visit bts.monk.ca and enter the EMJS PAC Code: 330CB3 on the SHOP page.
    • Select the grade and language (FR/EN) that your child will be in NEXT YEAR and add that kit to your cart. The kits automatically contain all the items marked “required” on the school supply lists provided by EMJS teachers. Select additional optional items to add to your cart.
    • If you have school supplies left over from previous years and you don’t want to purchase a full kit, you can use the “à la carte” option. If using this option, please refer closely to the school supply lists provided by the school as you build your kit so that you know what you need to round up from home and what you need to add to your cart.
    • During checkout, pay with Visa or MasterCard and choose free school delivery (scheduled by your school for September) or free in-store pickup.
    • Orders must be placed by July 19, 2020 in order to select the free school delivery option.
Staying in touch!
  • If your child(ren) won't be at EMJS next year, and you no longer want to receive this newsletter, you can unsubscribe here

  • A reminder that accounts on the hot lunches website will be closed during the summer, so if you want to download a copy of your child's class list to save contact information for families you want to connect with over the summer, you can do that here

What are some easy ways you can help raise funds for the PAC during the COVID-19 crisis?
  • Monk Office school supply kits! See the instructions above for how you can shop online and support the PAC.
  • Your EMJS Thrifty Foods Smile Card can be loaded every time you shop and Thrifty Foods generously donates 5% of what you load on the card back to our school to fund an infrastructure project of our school's choosing. We continue to fundraise for a gym projector that has been high on the school's wishlist ($6000). Every little bit helps!
  • Load up your EMJS Fairway Market Community Card and use it at Fairway Markets the same way as the Smile Card.
  • Next time you buy kids' shoes at Finn & Izzy on Oak Bay Avenue, mention EMJS and they will donate a portion of sales over $50 to the PAC.
  • When buying bread at Cobs Bread on Oak Bay Avenue, tell them you have a “Dough Raiser” account under the name “Margaret Jenkins”.
  • Do you have lots of bottles/cans that need recycling? Before your bottle returns are processed at any Return-It Bottle Depot location, let the attendant know you would like the payout to go to “École Margaret Jenkins PAC”.
