This week we will explore more deeply the text from Deuteronomy 26: 1-11. You will be invited to read the passage again each day before exploring the daily devotions.

Wednesday: Deuteronomy 26: 1-11
In this text the people of Israel are reminded of God’s work through their ancestral heritage, their rescue from Egypt, and their delivery into the promised land. Upon bringing their first fruits, the instruction is to make a confession before the priest about their identity. The confession being asked for is a statement of God’s power and faithfulness. There is an affirmation that it was God and God alone who was the author and perfecter of these remarkable moments in Israel’s history that not only assured them the land and freedom that God was giving them, but the fulfillment of the promises made to their ancestors before them. What do God’s power and faithfulness mean in your own life? Have you ever considered your offering, your tithe, to be a part of what defines your identity as a Christian?

Prayer: May my offerings be my confession of your power and faithfulness in my life, O God. Amen.
